mine didn't get above 160-170 for the first few trips out, but now, slowly rises when warming up to 220 and stays there. load, no load, highways, it doesn't matter.
i'm hoping to throw in a new 'stat and see what happens. i may try a sending unit as well.
when i pop the hood, nothing SEEMS...
i pulled a good load (8000 lbs) lugging quite a bit today up steep grades and my engine temp hovered around 220 degrees. i let it start up and run at idle to "cool down" a bit, but it didn't fall until i turned it off and let it sit.
what's the max i should let the temp get before shutting...
That would be me I guess! I think the first upgrade I'm going to make is the addition of a pyrometer. I still can't believe how easily that thing hauled that water tank. I'm amazed.

Well, the old C60 wasn't quite the safest thing either. I'd feel safer hauling 12k on the back of a bicycle sometimes than that old C60 if the brakes were acting up.
If you wanted to stop, you'd better plan on having a fast foot in order to pump the pedal. It's a short trip to the local fire...
Newb here. I'm considering a M35A2 to replace our old C60 Chevrolet for water hauling purposes. I live in rural Kentucky with a steep, long (.8 of a mile or better), rough, windy gravel driveway and plan to haul 1500 gallons at a time. (roughly 12,000 lbs)
I assume a stock Deuce will far...
