CUCV Washer motor won't turn off

Usually it is a mechanical issue not an electrical one. If you unplug the wiring and pop the cover off the wiper motor you will see the pump mechanics. There is a coil in there that activates the pumping action. I have fixed them in the past by using compressed air and blowing the dust and...

    Odometer question

I purchased a GL CUCV several years ago. I assumed the truck had 102600 miles. When I went recover it I was pleasantly surprised. All the texture was still on the steering wheel. The date code on the tires were correct for the year the truck was (the first thing I did was to remove those...

    My new jeep

Thank you gentleman. This is my first 5 ton so I am learning. I am new to the bigger trucks. I also recently pick up a Deuce or what's left of one it was also a first. Someone bobbed it down so short it has the wheelbase of something between a CJ-5 and CJ-7 and two steering axles. My wife...

    My new jeep

Well this is my newest "Jeep". It is a lot bigger than my others. It is a M52a2 We got it back to the shop, got it running, got the brakes working and what not. I need to round up the missing parts and get her checked over, cleaned and prettied up.

M1008 cranks but wont stay running ANY IDEAS Truck has been sitting for a year

It is the piece on the pump that the hose connects to. Pull the hose off at the pump. That is the return line check valve. It should unscrew with a 9/16" wrench or socket. It has a spring loaded check ball. The ball is clear.

I agree with steelandcanvas on both points.

    Stripped bolt hole

I see a NP208. Unless you mean now would be a good time to put a NP205 in.

M1008 cranks but wont stay running ANY IDEAS Truck has been sitting for a year

The main feed line to the IP is under the intake manifold. It comes into the IP in the middle of the outgoing injector lines. I would remove the return check valve and clean it. This is also a quick easy way to see if the IP is full of fuel. The IP return check valve is on top of the pump...

    newbie from western pa

Marcus, That is not a extra filter. That is a electric fuel pump the previous owner installed (previous before me). There is a relay by the battery for it. Possibly the relay went bad or something in the wiring to it. If you need help give me a call. Allen

    Broken start bolt

You're welcome. Good luck. I don't think you should have any problems finding one. If you do I should have one from a bad starter laying around.

    Broken start bolt

I agree. I think the starter design is the weakest point of the 6.2.

    Broken start bolt

Prob the best way for you to Identify if the starter is Direct drive or reduction is: The diagram you supplied is the Direct drive. The support bracket has the bend as shown. If it is a reduction starter the correct bracket is really just a straight piece of angle iron. If your starter is...

Upper Litter Berth from PA to OH, GA or FL

Actually Brookville PA would be the best pickup/meeting point. That would be exit 78 on I-80. My shop is nearby and there is a TA and a Flying J truck stop at that exit.

Trouble removing freeze plug (pic included). Please help!

Glad you got the freeze plug out. I usually just snug the heater screw up. It's a pretty small screw. If it leaks tighten it up a little more.

The Military is starting to scare me...

I am also concerned about society. On the flip side I do know some young people who are responsible. About batteries - I once had a "D" cell battery explode. They make a pretty good bang and a good mess also. The situation was some guys were removing instruments from the field bringing them...

Doghead relay mod not needed after July 1985 production

I just repaired a M1008 where the Starter mounted solenoid would stick on. First time I had that happen. It's a good Idea on any older vehicle especially a CUCV to have the means to quickly disconnect the batteries. As was stated before any solenoid can stick in a closed position. I feel...

M105 wheel / brake drum help

Bear9127, The only problem one might run into with replacing the axle with a commercial axle is normally their rating is with the spring right close to the hub. The M105 has a pretty narrow frame- so the springs would be quite a distance from the hub. If you look at a M101A3 axle you can...

    M880 Picture Thread

Digging up an old thread. Has anyone tried a HEI style distributor in their 318 ? I see it was mentioned in an earlier post on this thread. I have a friend who is working on a M880 and needs a distributor- his is missing by missing I mean its gone. Just looking for input - seems it would be a...

    M1031's on Gov Lic 11/12/12

M1031's I agree. I love the ones I have. I guess the good word got out on them. The reason I was shocked is the prices are a lot different than they used to be. I also have 2010 Dodges with SECM beds installed on them. Sure they have the creature comforts of a new truck. But they are in...
