Yeah, the timing mark on the pump lines up. I just put a new pump it in, and the problem didn't change at all.
I don't have a diesel compression tester. Wish I did.
cooling system seems to be fine, no oil in the radiator. White smoke tends to be air in the lines, but i've gone through all that. and don't have any leaks.
Haven't decided what to ask for it. It's got two new batteries, new injection pump, transmission looks to be new, the alternators...
Starter is in, truck starts, everything is exactly as it was before I replaced the injection pump. At idle, white smoke (and some black), high rpm's no smoke, but when you punch it lots of black smoke. Hard starting, have to keep the starter turning while it's trying to start for several...
Alreadyordered the kit. By the time I paid to have it towed up there, and their hourly rate to do the job it would be much more than the kit. At least this way I will have the kit on hand when someone here needs it.
Ok, I've just order the time-sert kit designed for really *'d up bolt holes...it uses bigger, solid inserts insted of coils, and apparently is packaged in pure gold or something given the price. If this doesn't fix the starter situation once and for all we move on to arson and insurance fraud.
Sorry Choll, not much to report. I got the starter put togeather, tried to install it and the bolt hole that has the helicoil in it wouldn't start. Tomorrow, I'm going to try to extract the screwed up helicoil and put in another one...Haven't had a lot of time to work on it, but I hope to...
went ahead and tore down the starter...internally, it looks fine. Bearings are tight, no side to side play...no teeth missing on the gear.
One of the starterbolts had a screwed up thread...just one. TomorrowI check out the holes again and see what kind of damage there is.
Yeah, definately. Got them from the dealership, correct part number and everything.
The problem is the assclowns...can we say assclown?...the assclowns that had the truck before me used the wrong bolts and screwed up the threads They've been helicoiled now, but it started the situation I am...
Sorry for the delay...I came down with something rather foul, and have spent all my time this last week running back and forth to the bathroom. After this weekend (my busiest time, since I shoot photos of/write about bands for a living) I get to crawl back under it (hopefully monday) and pull...
The problem arises when the cam is designed to run with a restrictive exhaust, the cam overlap is too great. So some of the intake charge, instead of being in the cylinder when the exhaust valve shuts is in the tail pipe. The result is less fuel in the cylinder to make power, since the fuel...
not easily.
With the glow plugs not connected, you should read 24 volts at the output of the resistor. But that isn't goint to tell you what it is doing under load.
THere comes a point where customizing a something gets so extreme that you would have better been served starting with something different.
Adding a 6.5L diesel to a four door Tahoe and painting it green maybe...Just my two cents.
If you strip away all the things that make a cucv...
They come with power steering, no rear doors, ac is doable, comes with a brush guard.
Best advice I can give you...SAVE YOURSELF. RUN AWAY. get into a cheaper hobby, like heroin, and polygamy.
Well, got the pump in, and discoverd that with my back as bad as it is putting the lines back on it was impossible. So today, a friend of mine came over and finished the lines, and we turned it over until we bled out all the injectors. The motor was barely turning over at this point, so we...
