    rear discs brakes

I put rear discs on my 1008. There is a check valve in the porportioning valve that restricts fluid flow to the rear brakes. It unthreads out after you remove the rear brake line from ithe valve. I removed the check valve inards and it works fine. I have to say it would be better to install an...

PTO for a NP205, need info

I took a look at my spare PTO for you last night. The part number on the tag is : TG6S-N7018-C2BT. It is made by Muncie as previously stated. This number should get you closer to coming up with what you need. Keep in mind that the output points towards the rear. I think you shoulkd be able to...

    m1009 speedometer driven gear

The GM catalog lists part #1362195 gear, yellow, 41 teeth. Keep in mind they also used an adapter (1.3000 ratio) Part #368026. Good luck

    PTO

My 1031 (contact maintanence) trucks use a PTO off of the 205 to drive a 12 KW generator which powers an air compressor and welder as well as the service panel with multiple outlets. I thin k the output on the PTO can be swapped around so that it faces fowards to drive a winch or whatever.

My M1009 RAN tonight !!! still have some ????

If I am not mistaken, you willl measure 24 plus volts at the glow plug relay when the glow plugs are off. It will start at 24 volts , then rapidly drop to to a little over 12 volts AFTER voltage starts flowing (with the relay energized). Seems like I read that one reason for the military doing...

    Tranny shifting

You can also adjust the vacuum valve that is on the passenger side of the injection pump. There are two bolts. Loosen them and rotate the valve in the slots. I can't remember which direction does what. It will alter when vacuum gets to the modulator on the transmission. I had to do this on my...

    Battery drain

I think I would drop the column down, remove the ignition switch and test it by moving it manually. You should be able to feel a detent for each key position. If the rod falls out of the column when the switch is removed, then the rack is broken and the fun begins. Tearing into a steering column...

    Battery drain

I have to wonder if the "rack" that couples the lock cylinder to the rod which transfers motion down to the ignition switch is broken. I've seen this problem mostly in tilt columns, but it is possible in non tilts as well. To simplify, when you turn the ignition cylinder to the off position ...

    Banks Turbo Install

The exhaust that came with the kit is three inch all the way back. I have seen just over 11 PSI momentarilty at full throttle shifts under heavy loads. It usually runs around 3-6 at highway speeds. MPG is up slightly it appears.

    Banks Turbo Install

I'll get some pictures up when I get a chance. In the meanwhile, this is a good article showing installation on a Blazer including dyno numbers. http://www.fourwheeler.com/projectbuild/7914/index.html

    Banks Turbo Install

I just finished installing a Banks Turbo kit on my '85 M1008. There are some issues that pertain to CUCV's when compared to a civy install, I thought I would share. I replaced the front battery and tray with civy units as the military stuff is too big and there would not be room for the airbox...

    Dodge CUCV Dana 60's?

More facts on these axles I pulled the covers today and they do indeed have 4.88 gears. The date on the ring gears indicate 1974 or 1975 model year. I believe they are out of a Dodge truck as the spring perch on the front axle (LH side) is cast iron, where as all of the Chevys I have see are...

    Dodge CUCV Dana 60's?

I came accross a set of axles that I have never seen before. I wonder if they are from the M880 series? THe front is definatley an open knuckle Dana 60, the rear is a Dana 60 or 70. They are painted OD green and appear to be military rebuilt. The front differs from Chevy CUCV's as the hubs are...

    Glow Plug Tech Article

I am resurrecting an M1031 and installed a complete civy harness that I had. It seems to me that the plugs do not have enough cycle time as it is hard to start (not near as long as my 1008). I am curious about your mentioning of adjusting the glow time. How is this done? Thanks for the great info!

    OMG! HELP!!

Driveshaft angles There is another option that really helps if you have four or more inches of lift. Adding a CV joint to the rear shaft will keep you from having to lower the transfer case which helps the rear angle, but hurts the front driveline angle. I have six inches on my 1009, dropped...

    CUCV Alternator belt problems

Hello all, I am new to this so if I foul up please forgive me. Anyways, My M1008 likes to throw off the alternaotr belts every six months or so (did so again yesterday). Has anyone else run into this and what is/are the fix(s) if there is one. I have checked all of the obvious things like...
