"Universal" Wiring for MEP002 and 003

GLCaines, so I don't have to worry about uneven loading? I definitely don't want to burn out a coil in the head with heavy loads. Derf, changing the mode switch is easy. It's that when I switch from 120 to 120/240 mode, I have to rewire everything because what was 120v in 120 mode suddenly...

    Running MEP-003 without generating power

I don't have any spare batteries, much less 6TLs, so I've been borrowing the batteries out of my deuce. With the gen head wiring connected, the starter could turn the motor 1/4 to 1/3 of a turn, get stuck for a second, move another 1/4 to 1/3 turn, get stuck. I disconnected the gen head wiring...

How to raise the metal top on a M105A2?

I believe there is a jack that's supposed to go with the box to lift it up. It's essentially a floor jack with a long pole that latches to a spot in the center of the roof that picks it up. There's a recent thread of another guy with a box like that.

"Universal" Wiring for MEP002 and 003

I just realized I may have read and misunderstood what I read. The TM says 5% max between PHASES not legs. Does this mean that since I'm in 1 phase mode I don't particularly have to be within close tolerances between legs in 120/240 mode? Then I wouldn't need to use 120V only mode at all. That...

"Universal" Wiring for MEP002 and 003

Universal Wiring for MEP002 and 003 I have been reviewing the TM for the MEP-002 and 003 gensets since I'm going to soon be running one. I have been paying particular attention to the load terminal wiring. Before I ask my questions, I'd like to give a little overview of my use of the...

    Running MEP-003 without generating power

I have never gotten this generator to run because it was missing parts and has a bad starter. So, once I get the starter replaced, I'm going to crank it up just long enough to see it run with the connections to the output box disconnected, which should be less than 10 seconds. Then, I'll shut it...

    Running MEP-003 without generating power

Hopefully this evening I will get my generator up and running for the first time. I know you're not supposed to idle these sets, but having never run it before due to it missing parts from GL, I don't want to inadvertedly run it too slow while doing operational checks and burn up the voltage...

    Rise Pintle Hook Setup

In the future once I get it home, the deuce will be doing the towing of it, except in certain extenuating circumstances. Flipping the lunette at my convenience when I get home will likely be done if I tow it with one of my civy trucks after this. I'm going to give it a quick try to flip the...

    Rise Pintle Hook Setup

Thanks for the tips Recovery. The lady on the phone gave me the option between a true pintle and a "combo" pintle/ball and I figured more options were better. It's also encouraging to hear that the Suburban shouldn't have much issue towing it. I'm just really worried about this recovery...

    Rise Pintle Hook Setup

I just called the local trailer shop and they can get me a 13" rise plate for $101 and the pintle for $100, so I can get 2 extra inches out of it and the trailer shop is on my way home from work. When I get home I'll measure the Suburban and figure out how close I'll be to the 36" mark.

    Rise Pintle Hook Setup

The EUC cleared unexpectedly fast (8 days, first EUC ever) on my M105A2 I won at Fort Polk. This is a 4.5 hour drive each way for me. So now I'm in a scramble to assemble everything I'll need to tow it home. I've been trying to locate a trailer to load it on, but can't find one. So, I'm going to...

    Fort Polk Loadout Phone Number

Nope, not for this lot at least... It's got the main corporate number for the site number. Fax is correct though. Also if you go under locations and look at the site, it has the same contact info.

    Fort Polk Loadout Phone Number

Nevermind, I called up the main GL office and they had the local number. For future reference, it's 337-535-1300.

    Fort Polk Loadout Phone Number

Does anyone have the phone number to schedule a loadout/pickup from Fort Polk, LA? It's not listed on GL's website or my invoice. The number they have for Fort Polk is the main GL phone number. Thanks!

Lug nuts (and how to bust your own)

I run that same 3/4" impact gun as the original poster off the gladhand with a 1/2" air hose and fittings. Other than waiting for the air tank to initially charge up, I don't have any waiting to get all 6 lugs off a tire.

M105 from Fort Polk to New Orleans Area

Thanks, I'll give him a shout. Any other ideas/offers?

M105 from Fort Polk to New Orleans Area

I recently won an M105 at Polk, and was wondering if someone would be willing to go pick it up and bring it to me for a fee. I'm waiting on the EUC, so I don't have a date yet of when it needs to be picked up. Please PM me if you're willing to do this, or know someone who can. Thanks!

Data plate ground down on GL buy

My biggest question is why was the plate ground down and painted over? I can't think of off hand any reason for the military to deface just the ID part of a data plate. They've surplussed plenty of things with swapped or missing dataplates. Unfortunately I do not have any wisdom to impart.

    Removing blower housing

JBK was right on. That was the bolt I was mising. Because it's in the middle of the shroud, one thinks that it's holding something onto the shroud, and not the shroud onto the set. I still can't get the set started, but that's for another thread. Thank you all for your help.
