    Recent MEP Auctions

Fools and their money. Glad I got mine before the insanity ensued. For those prices you can get a brand new Perkins with a modern controller. http://www.hardydiesel.com/diesel-generators/perkins-generator-8-30-kw.html

    Diesel Fuel Lubricant

I use Stanadyne lubricity formula. Don't know that it's any better or worse than any other products. I also add Killum biocide.

MEP-803a : AirTex fuel pump substitution

I have not but I use a similar looking 12V pump with the same filter and have killed one sucking crap through it. If you want to filter the fuel before it enters the pump a clear body small engine filter would work better.

    My MEP-803a experience

My solar setup has been working good. My Walmart value power batteries need replacing again but so far they are staying above 24 volts. It's nice having the solar control on top so I can monitor the battery condition.

003A running fine but amp load meter failed

The load gauge was dead on my 803 when I got it. I rigged a couple of these in it's place. Can be had off ebay for around 10 bucks apiece but they come from across the pond so delivery time is slow.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

In my opinion you got reamed. Throwing an engine together with no gaskets, a clogged air filter, and gobs of RTV is a far cry from being a competent rebuild. If you are happy with it then great but I would feel cheated. FYI, be mindful that those gobs of RTV can get into oil and water passages...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

The only engines I've ever seen with a crankcase vacuum either had a vacuum pump or exhaust scavenging system plumed to the valve cover. I haven't seen either on these engines. How an internal combustion engine can produce vacuum in the crankcase without one of these systems escapes me. The TM...

MEP-802/803/831 Generator Control & Parameter Monitor by WIFI Demo

I am also interested. After starting mine in the rain this morning a remote start would be a welcome addition.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Possible the valve stuck in the guide? I would pull the springs and make sure they all slide in the guides as they should.

    service sticker on 803a

My unit gets a tad under 20 PSI when hot but doesn't shut off or go below. I am thinking one day I might try shimming the relief valve but I imagine it will eventually need new bearings. I have 15W40 Motorcraft diesel oil in it right now. Edit: Ran it 3-1/2 hours this morning and it settled in...

MEP-803a : AirTex fuel pump substitution

I will bump this back to the top since the subject comes up in almost every troubleshooting thread we see. From all I've read it seems the Facet 40193 pump was unreliable and very expensive. The Airtex E1074 seen on most newer units is not available nor are the specs. I think the important...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

I ran a pressure and volume test on my Airtex E1074 just out of curiosity. The dead head pressure was 6 PSI and volume was ¼ gal in 60 seconds = 32 ounces per min = 15 GPH. I have loaded my unit to 50 amps with no problem and run it for two hours at 40 amps every month in addition to 50+ hours...

    service sticker on 803a

Unless it has a sticker or plate indicating that it got a new engine I would bet it did not. I have seen several photos on here of units that DID get new engines and most all of those had some specific indication the the engine was indeed replaced. Many had new hour meters installed with a decal...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

6 psi is within specs. My 803 runs fine under full load at 6 psi fuel pressure.

Ran first MEP-803a test on the house

Was load test day for mine. Wish I would have thought about building my load bank into the machine when i made it. Would have been a simple process and I wouldn't have had to have a fan or something else to store in my shed. After I tested mine this morning the power went out this afternoon...

    MEP803A Total Output Amps

I went the same way others have suggested. 50 amp RV connections with 6 ga cable and a 60 amp breaker on an interlock. So far so good. House is all electric with well and 3.5 ton AC/Heat Pump. I do some load management but sometimes I wonder if it's necessary. I'd rather not test to the limit of...

20kw Generator - Drash / Applied trailer battery question

Please disregard this suggestion from any further consideration. It seemed like a good idea at the time but I am on my second set of the "Value Power" batteries in a year and a half and they are failing again. I have had good results with Walmart's Everstart batteries and hoped these would be...

MEP803A Feeding Whole House and AC Compressor - Soft Start Needed?

My 803 starts and runs my 3.5 ton Goodman package unit just fine with the regular start capacitor. I wouldn't attempt to run the heat strips but the ac heat pump starts right up. I turn off all the 240 breakers except the well and ac. If I need to cook or heat water I will shut the ac off.
