    MEP805A Issue

I do not have one of those but reading I wondered if you cleaned your contacts on your selection switch yet? I have read others that have had the same basic problem and sometimes it's as simple as cleaning the selector that leads to a solution.

MEP 805b mystery coolant drain tube

Those TM's have a bunch of details in them and it does take a page by page to drill down. We have so many distractions in our lives details are easy to not see. Glad you know for sure. Like you said you would not want to spring a leak.

MEP 805b mystery coolant drain tube

I can't help with the priming I only have a little MEP. Although I now have been bitten and am looking for another challenge. Some of the TM's are quite detailed and should have that aspect covered. The hose hanging loose was exactly what I would have done to keep it clean. I saw that filter...

MEP 805b mystery coolant drain tube

Could that be a temporary fuel filter drain hose. Looks like it might have been engineered to make draining the water off the fuel simple and clean.

    MEP-016b Connection Lug

I was reading an 016A manual to see how the generator schematics compared to most current one and I saw this in the manual on repair of the connection load terminal and I attached it. Wish I had seen this when I had it off. May help someone else.

    Gutting a MEP-016D generator

There is a schematic I posted @ http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?140003-MEP-016B-Generator-Startup post #5 of the windings if that would be of help. The capacitors have to do with radio interference and I read they were not necessary if you are referencing the ones I think you are...

GP Fort Bragg....great people to work with!

What's your secret? I call and leave messages to request a preview and they just don't return calls. Last week I called customer service and asked if there was another number no one answers or returns calls, no other number. They sent an email and I got a call, arranged to go and within 60...

Thanks it is a good feeling and always good to have a good neighbor. I had the tire guy do the same to me. Ya just have watch anyone anytime they got hands on your equipment.

    MEP-016b Connection Lug

Thanks you were clear and I understood. I got it fixed. Had to remove it which was simple once I saw the plastic box below the would come off. My hands are large and getting one down, way down to L3 was impossible. My neighbor had access to a lathe and in two minutes it was good as new. He was...

    MEP-016b Connection Lug

Glad to know its fixable. the advice so far, "dress the pitch of the threads also with a fine hacksaw blade or similar" can you explain that a little bit? "However, for a definate fix, purchase a die set or single die, and carefully chase the existing thread" can you tell me what size i...

    MEP-016b Connection Lug

MEP-016b Connection Load Terminal Lug Hi I had an electrican wire my set and he cross threaded L3. Is there a way to fix it? I would call and raise cain but I have no proof and just want it fixed. I ordered covered outlets that came today and was taking the nut off when I noticed something...

    MEP-016B Generator Startup

You must be really bored to be reading threads on a 3kw military generator and not own one. I considered taking your path and buying a disposal generator like they sell at retail and buying some piece of mind to cover it. The attention I gave this thread was simply because I wanted what I could...

    MEP-016B Generator Startup

I am using a solid #6 wire for my ground and think that's a mistake. It's to rigid and I am using it as a portable on wheels and the ground is already important but with me re-making the ground each time I need to make it easy and simple. I am thinking treating it like a welder. Using a...

    MEP-016B Generator Startup

I wanted to point out that I have seen two types of control boxes if you were to have one like mine you will need to drill the back corner weep hole in order to feed the #6 wire in or out as you choose. I drilled my hole out and then used a dremel to smooth the hole to protect the insulation on...

    MEP-016B Generator Startup

I re-ran the neutral. I opened the control box and removed the 2 screws and nuts that held the re-connection switch to the side of the box and dropped the re-connection switch out of the way and removed the nut on the backside of L2 and fixed the white neutral wire to the stud with a #6 ring...

    MEP-016B Generator Startup

I had time to draw it out and make some notes on pdf. Use a meter and double check your setup. Moving the jumper to the backside L2 is almost mandatory the split lug will only safely hold so much wire. #6 is heavy enough to take the heat its close..real close to muffler.
