Advice on a 50-100 gallon Auxiliary tank for MEP-802A generator

Seems like this would require some further investigation. I see no check valve or float valve in the fuel line on the auxiliary fuel system. Most fuel pumps will allow free flow through them unless they have a spring loaded check valve inside. I would hope they thought this out and put a spring...

Anyone have a Mep 802A fU1 FUSE or konow of an equivalent fuse (F03A125V30A) ?

Measure the depth and diameter. If it's a standard 1/4" X 1-1/4" you can get or order a 6F457 from Grainger.

Lister petter metering pump - fuel line nipple *question*

Have you tried screwing a USS nut on it? Or check with a thread pitch gauge?

MEP 802A broken radiator overflow tube ,grease on power lugs, and no battery tray/box

Looks like you got a new engine. I would get a piece of copper tube that fits the hole in the radiator neck and solder it in. Make sure it doesn't protrude into the cap area so the cap can seat proper.

    Generator wet stacking discussion

Sounds like in addition to monitoring excess load I will need to keep my clothes dryer running at times of minimal load if I get a long term outage. I guess I will spend a lot of time doing load management when an outage occurs. Not something my wife could do if I wasn't here. It will still be...

    Generator wet stacking discussion

It might help. Remember to increase radiator cap pressure as you increase thermostat temperature.

    MEP-803A battery size

    It's a 24 volt system.

    Fort Drum GL Chaos

I would have called the main GL number as soon as this saga started to unfold. Hard to believe they would allow something like this. The site I picked my unit up from was a little difficult to establish contact and get an appointment with but when I got there they had no problem finding the...

    Mep003 gages dont work

Yep, make sure you have output at the lugs and go from there. If it has output then the gauges are bad. If they are the same as the gauges on an 803 they CAN be taken apart and cleaned out but they won't be accurate. Order some inexpensive digital meters and convert it to something usable.

    Do You Cover Your 803?

Mine sits under an open shed but I would venture to say it's whole life prior was probably spent outside. They had taped over the exhaust flap after putting it out of service.

    I love generators!!!

This unit I saw was an Onan with a 100 HP 4cyl turbo diesel and was rated to do 240V single phase at 40 KW. It wasn't one of the MEP designated three phase only units. I would take my chances with wet staking and fuel consumption on one of those. I run a 90 HP 4 cyl turbo diesel Backhoe all the...

    I love generators!!!

Unless a 40KW single phase unit comes along I can steal I have my one and only. I actually saw a low mileage 60KW 3 phase, 40KW single a while back and it went for a decent price but not in my "steal" category. Dang thing was in pretty close driving distance to me also. I could plug something...

    My MEP-803a experience

You're never going to recoup the time and investment you put into all those trailer mods. I would get the genset running good and sell it as is.

    Need a measurement mep803 please

My 803 measures between 16-3/8" and 16-7/16" to the screw hole center when measured to the line in your photo. The next row of screw holes where the whole panel attaches is 38-3/16" or thereabouts. I don't have a metric tape handy.

    802a, Hertz dropping under load.

Plus you cannot trust the analog gauges on these units. Unless you verify what they are reading with a quality digital meter you don't know what it's doing.

    802a, Hertz dropping under load.

Not sure about the 802 but the 803 manual outlines the steps to adjust for frequency droop. That said my 803 drops when loaded and making the outlined adjustment made little to no difference. I only turned the adjuster a couple of turns total but quit when I saw little to no change. If I set my...

    Lister/Onan LPW2/DN2M

Not sure about these but in the automotive world the tops of the pistons would be stamped std or +xx. Clean the carbon off and see if it has any markings. That said I don't think it had that much damage without scoring the cylinders. I believe you are looking at having it bored at minimum. I...

    My MEP-803A

Yeah I have everything tightened and connected and the door shut before starting. Only if I need to verify voltage, amps, or hertz with a separate meter would i operate with the lug door open. Now that i have a digital reading that was verified I have no need to run the unit with the door open...

    My MEP-803A

Just completed my first monthly inspection and everything passed with flying colors. I set the reminder in my phone calendar for the 2nd Sunday of every month. I began by connecting the ground bonding strap and checking the output lugs for tightness. I plugged my load bank into the RV outlet I...
