An old retired guy stopped by my yard sale a few weekends ago and starting asking about my M813. I was telling him it had a Cummins 250 and that is was a small cam version of the engine family. He stopped me there and said "Oh, that's a piston burner. That's what we used to call 'em" He was...
This is the furthest I've ever seen anyone take a military. Go to your favorite flea bay online auction house and search for this:
1970 jeep kaiser 5ton military 6x6 4door turbo gloss black full custom 53''tire
I would like to see a video of this truck driving around...
*disclaimer: I am...
I have been installing an M35 personnel heater kit in my M813 and wanted to share the bracket I made to bring it all together. I plan on adding a turbo to my 813, hence the M35 kit with driver side diverter piping. My truck previously had a heater in it that was removed some time in its past...
I picked up a combination hex/square hole socket and they claim you only need this one socket instead of two, however if I want to remove just the hex nut on the rear without engaging the thimble this socket will only cover about 3/16" depth of the hex nut. I'm worried about rounding off my lug...
I'm trying to find out what vintage this Jerry can holder is. I'm not sure if it's military or not, but it looks too well made to be homemade. The straps are herringbone weave with brass hardware which to me suggests a military piece. The metal looks torch welded.
What do you think guys?
I've seen the generic fill-in-the-blank decals, but are the original ones out there somewhere or reproduced?
My 813 is an AM Gen. so the Kaiser Jeep version would be a little older.
I drove my M813 up a steep road with 2" of fuel in the tank and it gulped some air and almost stalled out when the fuel sloshed to the back of the tank. This got me wondering if the in-tank fuel pickup tubes are the same ones as in the M939 trucks that seem to be susceptible to corrosion. I...
My passenger side door rubs and drags on the rear of the door opening on the cab and needs to move forward to fix this interference. Is there a way to move the door forward? Shims or adjusting slots anywhere?
Basically, I need to close this gap.
I need to know what diameter the turbo inlet is where the preformed rubber elbow connects to the turbo inlet on the A2 configuration of 939 trucks. Parttarget doesn't list this O.D. nor the rubber elbow I.D. (that I could find) so I need an old-fashioned measurement.
Thanks in advance for any info
I met a guy who has an '82 Big Cam II 300 and he said I can take whatever I need off of the engine. I'm planning on grabbing the turbo, exhaust manifold, crossover air pipe, cross over coolant plumbing, after-cooler intake, and maybe even the injection pump. His brother also has a Big Cam ...
Does putting 1400-20s on my 813 require different wheels? I know the bridge trucks use spacers but I don't know if they have unique wheels. The last post in the thread below says too wide but is that the tire or the overall legal width of the truck that he is referring to...
Insurance people always ask, I'm curious myself, and we know what most rifles and other fun stuff cost the government as part of their entire contract to build "x" amount of units.
I've come across two amounts a while back ($60k and $145k), but these are not official and are far apart in price...
It's time for me to replace the rubber brake lines and flush out the old fluid that might have been mixed by the PO. The TM only states "non-petroleum" product and I'm not sure what that would be called today. DOT 5?
I have read of some guys converting to DOT 3, but I don't want to mess with...
The data plate screws and others dash screws are a mishmash of original, random, and hardware store bright cadmium screws of all head types.
I want to find original fasteners and I'm curious if there is a go-to source for such things?
Couldn't find any clues from searches here but I did come...
It looks like oshkosh equipment lists this bulb as 6 volt and others don't mention a voltage. Needless to say the 2.5 volt bulb that came with my truck was fried. What is the correct voltage? 24v?
Can I remove CARC from data plate w/o ruining the plate?
My cold start/glow plug switch data plate is painted over with what I believe is CARC paint and I want to remove it without removing the black off of the data plate.
Is the data plate simply a painted decal that will dissolve if I use...
The passenger side of my M813A1 bed has this dragon stencil painted in black. Has anyone seen this or know what it represents? A unit? A shop? a rebuild facility?
I have wanted one of these for about 20 years and never thought I would get to have my own so this is a dream come true!!!
I had been watching the 5 ton market for about the last 4 years or so to keep an eye on price and availability as well as learn about the ins-and-outs of owning a 5 ton in...
