I have a stupid question too. After removing the DOT 5, could you use DOT 3 in a Gamagoat? DOT 5 was used in them because they were, allegedly, amphibious. Thanks
Yes indeed, you're right! BUT, usually those are civilian commercial trucks. Most of those I've seen have the same chassis as a off road dump truck. This truck was a military vehicle, with all the stuff a military vehicle would have, blackout markers, 24 volt with slave receptacles, pindle...
Several years ago I had a friend that was in the logging business. He had one truck that I had never seen before, or since. It was at least a 5 ton, 6x6, with a detachable bed. The only data plate I can remember was one that indicated it was a "dust control unit". I could not remember any model...
This is very interesting about the use of blackout lights and markers. I worked almost 35 years as a Tennessee game warden, and eight years as a sheriff. Don't know about other states. but it was common to see BO headlights on patrol vehicles. A few of us had NVGs and IR headlights on the front...
I appreciate your knowledge and input. I would love to have a Case MB-94, and so would one of my grandsons, he is a diesel mechanic at a Case IH dealership. That vehicle is wayyy before his time, but I bet some if the older mechanics might remember it. I promised him everything on the place with...
THAT"S IT! The Case mog is the one I remember. Of course it was painted with the Asplundh company colors and logo on the doors. So you say the 406 is the same vehicle as the SEE and HMMH vehicles, I didn't know that. As Sheriff I had one of each. Great vehicles! The only problem I could see...
My dad was a artillery mechanic for 101ABN. They referred to these as a SPAT, self propelled anti tank. I remember dad talking about they demilled a bunch of those for a surplus sale, don't remember the year. They were bought by a logging company somewhere up Wisconsin way, or at least in that...
I recently found one in a town near me. What would one be worth? I realize it depends on how original it is. I can't remember if the lunette hitch is intact. Otherwise it appears to be quite original.
It didn't look like a former MV, but I'd never seen a Unimog before. The company could have rebuilt and painted it to look like new, and it did. He said there were places that the row was so steep he would have to winch the vehicle to the top, spraying all the way. As I said before I know very...
I though I had posted this thread before, but couldn't find it in the threads search. So, maybe I didn't.
Back in the 70's I had a friend that worked for Asplundh Tree service. His job was spraying powerline right of ways for TVA. His sprayer was a Unimog with big tires and big winch on the...
Has anyone tried to register and Gamagoat in TN. I have one that someday I hope to drive. I understand that I can get a title with my bill of sale and Form 97, but need to put tags on it soon after I get the title. I wonder if I should get the title now while I can? It's up to me when I want to...
I remember reading on one of the chat forums, could be this one, don't remember. That the 353 in the Gamagoat was very efficient at turning fuel into noise with some forward movement. I was also told by an old retired sargent that gamagoats would go places that GIs didn't need to be driving.
Back in the early 1980s I was a waterfowl manager for Tennessee Wildlife. I had a 671 and a 453 that I used to pump water. DDs are the most rugged and dependable engines I know of , but they are as nasty as they are loud. Just because they are slobbering oily stuff doesn't necessarily mean there...
No. 3 is the holder for pioneer tools. Fits under the back behind the bumper.
No. 2 is part of a radio mount, it fits on top of the area between the seats up against the dash.
No. 1, I'm not sure what that is.
For those of you who know and love the M274s, all models execpt the A5 had magnesium beds and wheels. Is there any kind of fire retardant paint, or any other treatment, that can make magnesium less likely to catch fire? Anyone that has seen magnesium burn knows there's no putting it out. Just...
