I need to haul a Kawasaki Mule 4010 in a M1101. What is the length of the inside of the bed with the tail gate down? And, the distance between the wheel wells, inside the bed.
Many thanks, in advance.
The LARC with the Gama Goat in it is a LARC XV (15 ton), however I can't see the headlights on either side of the loading ramp. I believe this one has been modified in the front. The LARC LX could haul two goats, side by side. Remember, the LARC LX was built to haul our largest main battle tank...
The BARC was renamed in 1960, to the LARC LX. The only LARC that does not have a loading ramp in the LARC V (5 ton). The LARC XV (15 ton) looks almost the same as the LARC LX, smaller of course, one engine and 2 headlights on each side next to the loading ramp. The LARC LX has 4, 671 Detroit...
I gave you some bad info. The website is route6x6.com, and the AATV was called the Sur-trek. The unususal locomotion website is a good one. It has every amphib. ever built there. The Melli was the Swiss vehicle that was most simuliar to the goat. I believe it may have been first, and may have...
Gama Goat realtives?
Search the web, and check out the "Coot". There was another ATV built in the 70's that had a two piece body, but I can't remember the name. I remember the two body halfs had 4 wheels each. Go to route6x6x6.com and look there. I believe I saw somewhere that they are building...
When my son was at EOD school, he said there was a picture on the wall in a hall way of a guy loading artillery shells on a mule. On the side of the mule was a hand painted sign that read "EOD". He said he though the picture may have come from Vietnam. Does anyone have pictures or personal...
My dad was an weapons mechanic/shop supervisor for 101ABN. In the early 80's (he retired in 85), his shop mounted some mini guns on some mules for 160 Special Operations Aviation Reg. (SOAR). I wish I had some pictures, but they weren't allowed. An besides, it was just another job.
I sorry, I don't. However, I do remember he was in Tracy City, TN. The name of the business might be Ottocraft, not sure about that. What are you looking for?
Used to be a guy who sold parts over around Monteagle, maybe in Grundy county. Over that way some where. I used to see him at the MV show in South Pittsburg, before they quit having it.
Tigger,
I used to go to the show at South Pittsburg, until they quit having it. South Pittsburg is west of Chattanoga on I-24. What county is Butler in? There is an MV group around Nashville, maybe in Franklin I think. Maybe a bunch of us should go to some car shows and see what kind of...
Hey Al,
I'm a collector and have roots in Stewart Co. I grew up there, all my family is there, including my mother. Most of the family I have left live near Bear Spring and Carlise. I grew up between Indian Mound and Big Rock. Max Touchton and I are friends.
There is a very active MV group...
Welcome from West TN.
Can't help you between Huntsville and Maryville, but if you're ever west of Nashville, let me know. Goes for the rest of you as well.
The Kidd ATV was designed and built for use in Vietnam. However I don't belielve any ever made it over there. 8x8, hydrostatic transmission running chains to the wheels, steel hull simple to work on and operate. I rode in one in the mid 70"s. Very capable and tought vehicle. I know a guy that...
Thanks Jeff, I'll pass that on. I see you're from Kansas. When he deployed to Iraq, he was with 630th EOD from Ft. Riley.
I'm mighty proud of that boy!
A few days ago my son was visiting from Ft. Lewis. He is a E-5, EOD team leader. As an EOD tech he has taken it upon himself to learn all he can about landmines. Amoung his counterparts he has become known as "the landmine guy".
We were out behind my shop, where I have quite a collection of...
