Not necessarily, as I understand, the older models had them on the bottom unless it had a winch, then the lights were up. At some point in the 60's I guess they just made them all up.
Re-arranging
Went from the first pic to the other. Inverted the headlights, added a snorkel, the expanded metal grill, dual rifle mounts in the cab as well as an ignition cut-off.
What can you do if you know that the VIN is incorrect for the truck? My data plate is clearly not the original, the only thing I can go on is the number stamped on the frame, M55525, which I believe is a real early M35 gasser which was upgraded along the way.
Today I got my first look at my Deuce, very impressive. I took some pics of my frame number M55525, it was mention in the above quote, if it begins with an "M" congrats, it's a Studebaker, what is the significance of this?
As my Weight and Dimension Data plate is not original to the truck, is...
Awesome information on the history of your truck, seems really unique compared most of the others. Thanks for giving me great info and another place to look, which I'll do as soon as I can.

Does anyone know why my headlights are mounted lower then everyone else's?
Don't feel bad, mine are too, I plan on moving them to the top as I like that look better.
Thank you all for your input and guidance, I'm just trying to get a handle on what I purchased.
Being chastised by the mod only after 6 posts, must be a record and my apologies. My first post was specifically about my dash, which is why I posted in an Instrument Cluster thread, when informed...
Thanks for the replies and information. If this truck originally had a gas engine based on what the dash looks like, then potentially how old could the cab and frame be?, early 50's? Anyone have any idea on this. When I return home I'll see what numbers are stamped on the frame and go from there.
Hello all, I’m new to this forum and Deuce ownership, my truck was delivered last Monday and I’m anxious to give her a drive, I’m presently out of the country until the first week of October so I can’t look at her in person.
I’ve done quite a bit of researching on the internet, looking at...
Actually don't bother, I looked at a picture of the Weight and Dimension Data plate and the year of manufacture was 1966, I was told when I purchased it that it was 1970, no big deal as '66 was the year I was born.
All I have are the pics that my wife took for as I'm away from home for another...
Thanks for the quick reply, so you believe that it's much older than a 1970?, even before the A1. Was the M35A2 Standard the only version with the gas engine? Thanks again, I'm just trying to take in as much info as I can.
What's my dash?
Hello, this is my first post and after seeing this thread I was wondering if anyone had any information about my dash, I don't believe I've seen another like it, but then I'm very new to this type of vehicle.
The truck was just delivered to me this week. It's a 1970 M35A2...
