    Block Heater Questions (8.3L)

Yeah I am just trying to verify if it works before the bad weather starts to hit. I know for sure that the cord is being powered.. It's a brand new tested outlet that I just installed, and also because I bought a nice heavy duty Ridgid cord with an illuminated end :)

    Block Heater Questions (8.3L)

Update: Block heater has been installed, and am trying to verify whether or not it is working properly. Temp outside is 30 degrees. I have been running the heater for 3 hours, and the temp gauge still has not moved. Is that normal for this ambient temp? Should I wait a few more hours to check...

M925A2 Trailer Made From M923A1 Truck

$350 for a good quality heavy duty truck alternator is not ridiculous in my opinion. As long as it's good for 5 years or so, and does what you say it will, I think it would be worth it.

    M925A2 to M932LA2 Conversion

Couldn't you test it in some kind of water tank? That way if something blows when it is submerged the water would contain it a bit.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Today I installed the cord for my block heater, and zip-tied it in place to keep it from touching the exhaust, etc. I plugged it into the new exterior cord that I bought, but left it unplugged in the garage. I just went out now and plugged it into the outlet. I'm going to give it 2 or 3 hours...

Yeah... You wouldn't want that fan running all the time. From what I have heard on here it's a major power loss when it turns on.

Yup.. That's normal. It is air actuated, and does not come on until (if memory serves) 190 degrees.
