Yup. The coolant that I picked up from NAPA is low silicate, and is pre-charged with the proper additives. I just wanted to make sure I was putting the right amount of fluid in. Once I am all done I will check the coolant to make sure everything is alright, and will put in more additives if...
After the coolant has been drained as much as possible from the system using the radiator drain, how much fluid is left in there? I seem to remember someone saying 3 gallons, but I want to be sure. There is only water in there now, as I have flushed all of the antifreeze out.
So, assuming 3...
Agreed. I've seen quick attach towing assemblies that use the 2 lifting hook mounts and the pintle hook. I'm sure a step could be rigged up fairly easily, and still be easy to remove (or left on if it doesn't get in the way.)
Of course. I had thought about that. I knew the temp wasn't going to drop below 41 last night, which is why I went ahead and started this process yesterday. Otherwise I would have waited until this morning to start.
I'm glad I was able to start it yesterday.. It took longer than I thought it would.
Perhaps. I have a limited amount of time after work, and Winter has already started to show up.. Been below freezing several nights lately. I need to get this finished as soon as possible. Worst case I can do the coolant again in the Spring. At that point I could do the radiator too.
All I can say is GOOD IDEA.. You'll be happy to get the coffee/butter juice/diarrhea out of there. FYI, I tried using the trick that someone mentioned.. Palmolive mixed in with a few gallons of the water. It worked ok, but not much of a difference versus regular water. I left the drain out, and...
Today I finally started my coolant replacement/hose replacement/block heater install. All I really accomplished was draining the coolant. Man.. That SUCKED! I spent almost 3 hours doing it :( At the beginning everything was going ok. As expected, the radiator drain was seized.. The little wings...
My plates took a month to come in after I sent in the form, etc. In many cases, you don't need plates to drive a newly purchased vehicle home, so long as you bring proof of purchase and insurance. However, check with your local DMV to see what the laws are for your state. Also verify whether or...
Put my top pipe on the truck.. Almost done with the muffler replacement project. Only thing left to do is install the freshly painted heat shield. Ran the truck to check for any exhaust leaks, and then took my brother for his first drive in it.. He was quite amused :D
Finally received the 3/4"...
I seem to remember someone telling me that the transmission or transfer case breather vent is piped up to the intake stack, in order to keep it above water when fording. If you had a positive pressure buildup it would push the fluid up the tube and into your intake.
Hopefully someone else will...
After reading through this thread, I'm still curious if anyone on here has bought the Detroit lockers from that other company.. I know someone said they are the same setup as the USMC lockers, but that doesn't necessarily mean the quality is the same. I would almost prefer those over air lockers...
I still wonder if it really was just something left in there after a previous repair.. I mean, you'd think they would clean everything out, but who knows.
Finished mounting my new muffler today, after painting the muffler mounting frame with the green Behr paint. I had a heck of a time with the lower clamp.. Stripped the flats on the head of the bolt and slammed my hand against the toolbox :( Also knocked some paint off of the diamond plate when...
Never mind.. I found the answer in the recent thread about muffler replacement. I had thought that the gasket between the muffler and top pipe was the one that could be left out, but it turns out that it's the bottom one. Problem solved :)
