If you are going back stock, go with Frank's engine (or a takoute one out of my yard...). Or for a diesel go with a Cummins 4BT (I have one in a truck in my yard...), or with a gasser V8 (Bob in Raleigh has a big block in his, I have a manual on the shelf detailing how to put a GM smallblock...
Thanks for the warning.
Some things never change, that stretch has been a speed trap my entire life... Thankfully, I'll be in the XM813 with the XM708 on the towbar with MichiganDon following in his M35 with a M105 on the pintle... We shouldn't be going fast enough to trigger the radar...
A long winded reply, but you asked...
Oh, dumb little things...
The tie down points (very nice, heavy ones) are all in a dual row from front to rear of the bed just inside the wheel wells. I tossed six medical chests in the trailer for the ride home and covered every one. There are no...
We've got plenty of room... :)
Worse case, I'll tell him to park in the 40 acre field next to the 100 acre one that we use...
I suspect that you want me to mow your camping spot as well... ;)
I picked up one recently for a fellow member.
It towed nicely, had some nice features...had some things that I didn't like about it (small, but looked like a committee had designed it and not totally thought about how it would actually be used...).
Unless I had a HMMWV, I wouldn't purchase...
Real close... Have to hitch the XM708 to the XM813 for the ride up, put enough fuel in the tanks to get me there (remember, that you need to get fuel before you get to the rally site since we no longer have public pumps in Syria (nearest gas/fuel is in the town of Madison...), and take a...
From a portability standpoint, a MEP-016D will fit between the rear seat and back doors on a Suburban... :) Just in case you want to haul it somewhere when you are not in a MV... I really like mine and agree with all of your point, including the Honda bit...
I also have three MEP-701a's...
Wonderful!
Now you'll have something to put on the pintle for the convoy up to Graves Mountain at the end of the month...
Seriously, it's good to hear that the recovery went smoothly. [thumbzup]
I am also shocked...and I spent the weekend in a daze as well...
Way too young...
I first met John in '97 at the gun show in Raleigh (Charles Talbert at M-Series Rebuild had called to tell me that he was meeting John at the show and that I should ride over in my new M37 to show it to...
Hmmm, it seems that we have two threads for the same event... :)
Anyway, the most up to date info on what is happening is located on the thread at:

Hope to see a bunch of you in the beautiful VA mountains next month...
Welcome!
I'll mention (in addition to saying that the VA Rally is comming soon and will be a lot of fun and you'll get a chance to check out the action in the cool mountains...) that my old (well, it's an '83 so it's not that old...) M35A2C is up for sale again.
It was a great running tuck...
Good news! Chuck has finished the t-shirt design! They will be available at the event for the same low, low, price of $10 each... :)
There is a space on the registration form (hint, hint) for you to indicate how many, and what sizes, that you want....
We've also got the prizes lined up...
The three fields that I currently have "open" for us to use for camping total about 250 acres... I also have no problem telling somebody to turn off a loud generator at night (even the folks over the fence in the "horse" field...). Those that want a quiet evening after a long day of...
JSF01: Actually, we also have some trails that are down by the riverside (pretty flat) and a couple that run along the ridge or through the orchards that don't require much skill or teeth clenching. We also have some great trail guides (Steve, Laura, and the gang from the Lost Jeepers) who...
I don't have a running tally of members who are going... For planning purposes (Saturday's BBQ), I don't really count folks until I get a registration form from them...
That said, you can count up the folks who have responded to this post, add about a dozen members of the Lost Jeepers 4x4...
