    change of the gear ratio

If you want to do a side by side comparison, this site does a pretty good job. Lets you play with lots of different numbers. You can enter the geared hubs in either the transfer case or underdrive options on the form to give you accurate results without having to figure out the final ratio with...

    change of the gear ratio

I got bored so did a bunch of the math so for engine at 2000 rpms, .75 overdrive and 37 inch tires, the below gearing will produce the listed speeds 2.56 gears is 60 mph (96.5 kph) 2.73 gears is 56mph (90 kph) 3.08 gears is 50 mph (80.5 kph) Changing only the tires to 40 inch 2.56 gears is 65...

    Flat Towing a M998

Could be worse. I watched a 40 foot bus (30k lbs) being towed by an F650 tow truck (13k lbs) with the bus axle up in the air. In the rain, at night. The air lines were hooked up to the bus, and someone in the driver's seat. They had to make a quick stop at one point, guy in the bus hit the...

    change of the gear ratio

I've never heard of any of the geared hubs in either HMMWV OR H1 being anything other than 1.92-1 ratio. No way a 4-1 ratio gearset would fit in the hubs. Also, the 2.56 geared trucks should be 7.7k or 10.3k GVWR, and the 2.73 trucks are 10.3k rated. I haven't heard of a 10.8k rated truck.

    Gen sets MEP need advice

If you look at any of the trailers these are mounted on, they will always have a lug on the frame somewhere for attaching a ground wire. The point of grounding is to provide the electricity, if it's going places it isn't supposed to, a low resistance path to earth. There are formulas for...

    Gen sets MEP need advice

yeah, I was, for 4 years. Supposed to be an office job (15P, Aviation Operations Specialist) but I hated paperwork and went in after failing their color vision test so limited number of jobs I was allowed to do. Mostly I took care of our equipment. In South Korea where it's a 1 year rotation...

Mep804a to single phase in SD

most generators will be able to deal with minor imbalances without issues. Typically for a 3 phase setting, you can load the generator to 1/3 of it's rated capacity per led before causing issues. On a single phase split voltage (120/240) you can do up to 1/2 capacity per 120V leg. These MEP-8XX...

Mep804a to single phase in SD

For the load you are talking about, in extreme usage, you'll be burning more than 1 gallon per hour. If running other loads than the heat pump such as water heater and whatnot on the 3rd leg, you might burn as much as 1.5 gallons per hour. A 200 gallon tank would last you approximately 1 week...

    Gen sets MEP need advice

Something also to think about... So I don't know if your generator is capable of doing this on, but I'm running a 3 ton ECU on a 5kw generator (NordicAir) The aircon portion works just fine on the 5k. The heating portion is rated to draw over 9kw. The heater portion is a bunch of heater...

Mep804a to single phase in SD

Converting from 3 phase to single phase is more complicated than just getting a transformer. You basically have to convert it to some other type of power (either DC voltage or mechanical power) and then convert it to single phase. Unfortunately there isn't a good answer for this. By the...

    Gen sets MEP need advice

Yes, you can, but that is called the "convenience outlet" and as stated before, only has a 10 amp rating. You're much better off making some pigtails from extension cord and wiring directly to the output lugs to neutral, so likely 3 or maybe 6 depending on your number and size of loads. The...

Mep804a to single phase in SD

these are reported to be 10 lead heads so not really able to be converted unless you want to start tearing into the stator assembly itself to find where the other 2 leads should be (if I remember correctly, I could be wrong)

    Gen sets MEP need advice

Quick search showed the 60k EEECU draws 10.7kw in cooling mode and 12.2kw in heating mode. You would be best off with the MEP-804 series generator at 15kw 3 phase to operate it, or find a DRASH/HDT gen/trailer unit with the 18kw generator...

    Low fuel level- Normal behavior?

Basically just a box around the pickup that lets fuel in from the side to trap fuel during uphill/downhill/acceleration/stopping so you don't run out quickly. The below links show images of it. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/a2-fuel-tank-question.154217/...

    Low fuel level- Normal behavior?

There is a baffle around the fuel pickup to prevent that from happening. If it does happen, it's likely that the baffle around the pickup has separated from the bottom of the tank.

    MEP-802A Battery advice

batteries will help smooth out any fluctuations with the alternator output as loads are applied and dropped from the unit (this shouldn't be an issue on a properly operating set, but figured it should be stated anyway) Personally I don't particularly like putting my hands or tools inside of an...

    HMMWV Texas Title Info

When I said "max possible weight" I meant the maximum that it might weigh while I have it out on the road, NOT just what the manufacturer says the max is. I kind of jumbled what I intended to say and it sounded better in my head.

    HMMWV Texas Title Info

In my state you pay for tonnage, or the max possible weight of the vehicle fully loaded, not what it's rated for. Then you also end up having them screw up and register it as 6k lbs empty and 6k lbs max gross weight, and then have to go into an office to increase the amount you pay for the...

    AC condenser relocation

The airflow through the cooling stack kind of sucks to begin with, so adding additional restriction isn't a good idea. Add that to the additional heat from your turbo conversion (I'm assuming you still have the earlier cooling stack and haven't done the snout extension?) is probably a really...

    Oil filler neck removal

Sometimes to remove serpentine belt all you have to do is press down next to the top idler pulleys and slide it right off. Can't confirm on yours with the belt going under both idlers, but on trucks with the Red Dot aircon it works easily.
