    HMMWV Headlight Issue

plug in like normal for the most part. As long as you aren't buying the type with halos around them and whatnot.

    Hutchinson Run Flat Lubricant

First thought is put some water inside and see if it's water soluble and easy to remove. Second thought would be clean/scrape out as much as you can, then don't worry about it. As long as it isn't impeding the antifreeze from being able to move around the tire, then it shouldn't be an issue...

    HMMWV Headlight Issue

Wolfer/COMTAC is an importer of cheap chinese junk, with a known high failure rate. "TACOM" isn't a brand, it's a subordinate command of Army Material Command. They aren't a manufacturer, just the supply system for the Army. Highlighted section of the description is claiming it's both...

    Companies that rebuild these.

About the only thing I've had trouble with out on the jeep trails is I barely fit in spots they have plenty of room in, at least older jeeps. The newer jeeps have turned into monstrosities in comparison.

Are there essentially only 2 different hoods?

The M1123 is identical to the M998A2 except for a few things having to do with the rear bumper not being installed on the M1123 and the fording kit already installed. A few other things as well, but those are the main ones. Pretty much all HMMWVs are the same basic components no matter what...

    Companies that rebuild these.

For heat/Aircon you'll want either an M1123 with the RedDot system, or an ECV/REV truck. Probably the ECV/REV since the RedDot takes up a lot of space. For sound deadening, you might as well just buy an H1. For the amount of work to properly strip down the truck, apply a good quality sound...

New guy here, just picked up a M103-A3, have a few questions

Trailer tongue weight isn't going to be a huge amount, so I'd say find a 5k rated tongue jack and not worry about it. The original jack assembly adds a LOT of tongue weight and is a bit of a pain in the butt to deal with. Unless you're a purist (and you obviously aren't for this trailer) there...

    M1102 wheel offset

Lots of discussions about this in the HMMWV forum (exact same wheel/tire assembly used for both). only one I found mentioning stock offset was this The stock HMMWV wheels are +63.5 offset. 9" rim width, 7 inch backspacing = 2.5" + offset = 63.5mm+ offset (as far as I know, the math is 1/2 the...

    Funny failure mode

First time I've seen an ABS pipe extension like that, but about once a year or so someone posts something about the truck having no power under load, and it ends up being that cap sitting down too far onto the pipe. Glad you figured it out and managed to fix it. And also, thanks for posting...

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

it was relighting the diesel potbelly stoves that did the flash burns for us. One female soldier decided to relight it while hot using the full cup of diesel fuel like instructions say for cold. Singed her eyebrows and eyeballs, but was back on duty when we got out of the field. She wasn't the...

    Amgeneral direct parts.

The first couple "free shipping" sales they left oversized items like the windshield glass at the regular price. That first christmas I bought 3 of them for $105 shipped. Then I think they realized they were losing a lot of money because of that, and they started bumping up the price on some...

    Amgeneral direct parts.

So the main issue with their website is they don't distinguish between parts on hand, and parts that are on hand but reserved for a government order. They will hold that part in inventory until the gov contract is filled, then resume shipping to civilian customers.

good price, but labeled as made in China.

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

Hopefully someone learned their lesson, and the stencil is meant to be in good humor. We had a fax machine on the 2nd floor of our battalion building. Posted on the wall above the fax was instructions on how to operate the fax machine. It wasn't actually a fax machine though. It was the...

Hurricane Advice: HMMWV will not move!

have you crawled under it yet to make sure that all of the half shafts and drive shafts are still connected? It's unlikely you had 2 half shafts fail or 2 drive shafts didconnected or some combination of the two (which would have to happen if it won't move in either HL or L), but not...

Humvee shock absorber and spring options?

aren't the shocks also there to limit suspension travel? If so removing them then going off roading would probably be a bad idea

    Tow bar

Saw a medium tow bar used to pull a dead semi with two flatbed trailers behind it by another semi. Just ask Hammer about that (he has since acquired the heavy towbar) medium towbar is more than strong enough for anything you could throw at it with a HMMWV

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

very cheap part, you can probably find one at your local auto parts store, or maybe if you take it in to have the refrigerant "properly recovered" they might even have them on hand if you don't want to order one and wait. apparently uses some type of 8 point socket. I can't recall but I...

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

on my red dot unit, the high side port was a standard thread in GM high side port. Just threads onto that brass fitting. just make sure you lubricate the O-ring with the SP-15 so you don't damage it during install. 99% sure it's the one below, as I only remember ordering one and this is in my...
