The route that Adam, Mike, and I took last year (I suspect that we will take a similar one this year):
Adam came up I77 from SC into NC. He and I met up in Mt. Airy (I77/74 junction) and rode up to Beckley, WV where we met Mike.
Convoyed over on I64 to Lexington, KY, then up on I75 to...
Howdy.
Don't forget to take a bunch of photos as you go along. Not only do we like to see them, but they will be helpful to you down the road (trust me...).
If you haven't found it already, I have a website with a little info on the M37 and varients located at: www.garbee.net/~cabell
Not sure about towing that MG... But it can pick it up, slap it on the tag trailer, and haul it over...
I know that it could tow a project M37 from one side of town to the other as well... ;)
You need to stop by and take a gander at it...
The next one will be September 2-6, 2010... Just in case you want to put it on your schedule... :)
We'll have a couple of "work weekends" starting in Feb/March so that we can scout out and clear some new trails and repair some that have not been used in twenty years or so... I'll post dates...
I'd really like to have it at Aberdeen. AMGeneral told me when he went down to look at it with me that it was my turn to drive one on the Convoy.
Only thing is that I think that I will also have to have my cargo truck there.
I also need to get my XM708 and M817 dump trucks there at the same...
LOL, the local Army National Guard unit did a complete PM on the wrecker that the Scout Troop got just before they sent it over to the FEP yard. I think that they even topped of the tanks on the way in... It has gotten fresh paint, a pair of batteries, and new lines on the fuel selector...
I just got my '70 AMG M816 home Saturday and it needs a little TLC (hole in the hydraulic tank and a sticking pair of brake shoes...).
It's also got a little cab rust and a hole in the passenger side fuel tank, and some dead bulbs and bad grounds on the lights...
Jim from Chapel Hill (who...
I can't weigh in on the usage/diving portion of this thread yet (ask me in six months...) as I just got my '70 AMG M816 home Saturday and it needs a little TLC (hole in the hydraulic tank and a sticking pair of brake shoes...).
But: I have a bunch of stuff in the yard that needs to be picked...
Assuming that the dates are in June (as posted earlier in the thread), I can make it.
If Ferro will help out in the MKT as he did last year, and if you promiss that the group photo will be timed so that we can be in it, I'll cook...
I'd like to do the food the same way as last year, post...
The photos came up for me on my work computer (shhhh)...
Hate to see them go, hopefully the'll end up at a nice home and then you can come and help clean out my yard... :)
Tread is a virtual copy of the Michelin XZL... Don't have a pick of one handy (did have a M109 in my yard at one time wearing a set but it left about a year ago...)
A page with detailed info on the tires (including a image) is located at...
I've never had that problem myself, but I have heard about it. If you have the manual lever in the wrong position, it prevents the diaphram from being actuated...then it won't pump...
To add a bit more in response to the original question: Five gallons is plenty to get it running with a...

When it says, use military part, it means that there is no applicable commercial equivalent for the part. You have to source it from one of the suppliers who has the correct military version and thus, you don't need the part number, you just tell them the application. In the text, they...
The good folks at Roscommon also have a PDF with filter info for 2.5 and five ton trucks including a comparison of the military and civilian versions...

I've done this conversion using the Hella E-code European lights to everything that I drive, from the '51M37 to the '90 944S2... Part numbers and such are on my website at:

I've been ordering from Susquehanna Motorsports for a while now as they have better prices then my local parts...
I use a commercial light duty filter bag setup at 5 microns and pump the oil through it. Cut it 50/50 in the summer, about 25/75 in the winter for use in my NHC250 powered trucks.
Unit I use is:
100XB Filter Housing w/Stand at F2F Filtration Units (didn't purchase from these folks, but they...
I use the heavy duty hitch pins from Agri-Supply in mine... Little bit longer than stock and have a d-loop on one end (handle) that makes it a tad easier to align/move the towbar around.
They have them in all the diameters needed. :)
