    I have not called either of the rods, side or bell housing, a "bad thing". Especially the lower bell housing rods are a very good thing, I think, as they create a truss that helps take stress out of the system.     You could run 35s with very minor (practically invisible) fender trimming, and a little bit more for 36s. Unless you need to lift it for some other reason.

    I don't think that rod can do squat to help in high horsepower applications. But if hitting the 'case on something (going in a forward direction) or if the front drive shaft is too long, then it could be worth its weight in gold. Well, almost.

    I've seen lots of these rods, but after looking at your photos it feels like I must be missing something here. Unless the front drive shaft's slip yoke is not lubed properly, or bottoms out, what good can those side mounted rods do?

    Yeah, I suppose we all age a little differently. In my case the capacity has suffered a lot, but General Hood doesn't seem to have gotten any wiser. Then again, I haven't know him for that long, so if it's a very gradual process I may not have noticed any improvements.

    Two things, Sir Hood: One is that the swing cylinders are almost tiny, so they can't weight that much. Also, suppose that (unlike you) anthkey isn't elderly and can handle physical tasks accordingly.

    Technically it's an M35C, but 580C seems to be the civilian counterpart. But I've also seen 580D mentioned. Not that it really should matter, as your local friendly hydraulic shop will measure the seals anyway.

    I would guess that the other regulators in the system are there to provide the desired maximum pressure for the specific part of the system they feed. For example, I would not want 80-90 psi going to the axles. While removing a damaged air vessel makes perfect sense, having less tank capacity...
