The spec lube is 90w GL1. It is safe for all the bearings, works well, and is cheap... If you do use a GL5 (more modern and usually in a multi-viscosity such at 85w90 or 85w100) make sure that it also meets the MT1 specification. Some GL5 has addititives that are not friendly to yellow...
I've got a pair of rubber chocks just like the ones that we issue for use at work. They are on a short section of chain that is just long enough for them to both be placed on the downhill side of both the front rear and rear rear tires on the truck, or on both sides of one of the tires when I am...
It is the busy season at work... couple that with helping Mom and Dad out (Dad's health has declined a bunch since Easter) and my spare time has just been melting away...
I did manage to finish my instal of the rear disc brakes on my M37 this past weekend so I now have them on all four...
I'm planning on riding down to the event unless something pops up at work or something...
I'm also getting ready to put together a biodiesel processor that is fabricated out of an electric hot water heater (see http://www.localb100.com/cbt/appleseedprocessor/ ) since I really don't want to run...
Ahhh.... I knew about Aliance, but had hoped you found a dealer who carried them... Do please keep me informed of your progress. Meanwhile, I'll add the photo to my site since it shows the tread a bit better than the one that I have (a used tire that was on a fellow's Norway return WC53)
You have a few choices for air hoses setups that I know of...
One: My M35A2C has a quick connect (standard air hose fitting) under the glove box in the cab. Fitting is plumbed in with a ball valve that is connected to the line on the firewall, so you have to open the valve to get air. The...
Man, that deuce looks great in the new paint... Has me rethinking the NATO 3 color job that mine is currently sporting (that I need to redo since it has been twelve years since it was done by Uncle Sugar...).
We'll.... I really like the ride of my M37 over that of my M35's or my M38's... The M37 will also go up trails that are way too tight or twisty for the longer wheelbase rigs (M715 and M35 both)... M37 is also a heck of a lot easier to put into a parking space a the local grocery store...
The Hercules DT3.7 is a great little engine...
I do know one fellow that had one in a M37 that had problems with oil consumption being really high, but evryone else that has one did not have that problem, so it may have been an aberation...
I personally think that the Cummins 4BT/BTA is a better...
Longhunter,
I would love to have some photos of NATO NDT's and source info for my website... I have a bunch of folks who have contacted me about getting some, but have not been able to point them to a suppier...
Thanks,
Got a complete set of u-bolts on the back of the parts truck in the back yard... I can send them to you along with the bumper sticker from last year's convoy... Of course, I would just run over to the local heavy truck shop and have a set made up while I waited (what I did when I needed...
Cab on M37 is narrower and shorter. Top for M35 is therefore a bit large. I do know of a couple of folks who have managed to fit a M35 vinyl top onto a M37, but considering the cost of a good reproduction M37 top versus the cost and effort to fit a comparable M35 top, I'd suggest going with...
Bob Kelly in the mountains of NC makes a wheel that mounts the Hummer tires on a M37.... Not my favorite tire to run on the truck (I really like my Michelins on the stock rims), but he likes them as have those who have purchased from him.
www.hammerdownoffroad.com is his website....
TACMED: Take a look at the photos on my site and see if you can figure out the bed stuff from them. If not, let me know and I'll take specific photos of the hardware in the bed when I get back from Aberdeen. I have the canvas mounted and the bed filled with parts for sale, so I can't take...
Ok, to correct that typo in my reply way up at the top. I did mean to say that the guys at my local GL site have a better knowledge about the trucks than the guys at the GSA site...
The guys at the GL sites in my area are all ex-military and they are all sited on military bases, so they...
Add to what you have noted above about prices and EUC that GSA does not add a 10% buyers premium...
Folks at my local GL yards have better knowledge of the items being sold than the GSA guys, but the GSA guys are more willing to help you get the stuff loaded. I hear a lot of conflicting info on...
Tell him that he can drive it in stock condition...
Brandon is driving his M816 and I will also have my towbar if he has serious trouble...
(I assume that the truck is still running good but it is actually a matter of the poor fuel economy and the top end speed that has him concerned... I...
