You just gave me another idea - make a grease reservoir to fill on the small diameter end of the bearing and use some kind of plunger to force the stuff down into the race - pack a whole chunk of the bearing in one go(y)
The M35A3 inner bearings are completely sealed on the larger diameter side and therefore can't be packed from that side without destructive disassembly. They're prepacked by Timken and probably considered completely disposable when following the packing interval in the LO.

The TM says the wheel weight is installed after the clamp ring nuts are installed, which isn't how my truck was manufactured. If it were my truck, I'd put the wheel weight on the appropriate clamp ring stud and secure it with another nut. The CTIS stone shield is tightened only to 60-80 ft-lbs...
I don't have a grease needle here - something I need to add to my toolbox. The guy I originally quoted tried a grease needle and it wouldn't fit between the cage and inner race - maybe his grease needle was too big? 🤷♂️

There should be an air valve behind the passenger-side rear mudflap. My method of operation:
1) Connect gladhand
2) Open emergency air valve
3) When done using truck air, close emergency air valve
4) Bleed air from connected hose all the way down before removing gladhand

If you want to use compressed air off your deuce the "Emergency" gladhand is your friend! I keep a long air hose in my truck's toolbox with a gladhand on one end and a quick-connect on the other end, to which I usually connect a remote-locking air chuck.
Here's another question: How much does a hub weigh? The OP says a brake drum weighs about 40 lbs. I'm guessing the hub is also around 40 lbs - the hub-drum combo is heavy!!!
I have a rear hub off my A3 for the first time on the account of gear oil coming out of the hollow stud. The outer bearing came out fine and the hub and drum slid off - it's a lot heavier than it looks! Anyway I was hoping the inner bearing would just come out, but it's actually driven in? I...
I'm curious - how could oil get into the cylinders like that? Maybe someone was running it on some kind of oil and created a hydrolock condition? Or someone intentionally filled them with oil in an effort to preserve the motor while it was just sitting?
Surely that much oil doesn't just sit...
I'm thankful that my truck was titled after being auctioned off to its first private owner - a green AM General pickup ;) I registered the truck as historical and treat it as such.
My floor looked a little bit nicer underneath - just surface rust fortunately! One of these days I'll paint it. I don't take it out much and when I do it's during the summer as my "summer car" so it won't get rusty too fast :)
