    Power steering

Another benefit to installing an electric hydraulic pump would be if you ever wanted make your truck have a modern dual-circuit power brake system using a GM hydroboost cylinder. I've never tried this myself nor designed anything yet but I'd give it a shot. It makes an older non-air brake...

    Power steering

I've driven a halftrack just fine without power steering 💪 All the things you said are true. I can see it being a benefit for off-roading, though, and I share my experiences with my trucks pretty much on flat, solid ground at all times. If it were me, I'd consider rigging up a hydraulic power...

New to me Deuce with matching trailer - wrenching post

Are you securing your wheels with a cage or heavy chains when inflating the tires on the rims after mounting? I'd prefer a cage but I used chains when I did mine.

    1951 Reo M48-New Toy

That's something I'd like to see! Just don't forget to add a comfortable seat :ROFLMAO:

    My first multifuel?

Time to stock up - never know when you're going to need it to preserve rubber, or eat it, or something :p

    New in-tank fuel pump

A couple things that may not be a thing on the A2 trucks, and I don't know that for sure since I've never worked on the multifuel: 1) For priming the motor after a fuel filter replacement, the M35A3 TM says to crank the motor for a certain amount of time (which I can't remember off-hand), let...

    New in-tank fuel pump

Agreed, but will lots of cranking not prime the motor? I know that takes awhile without a priming pump. Also if there's air getting into the fuel system, I think there are other problems that need attention, like potential fuel leaks.

    New in-tank fuel pump

If the existing IP can draw fuel, I'd consider bypassing or removing the stock electric fuel pump. If the fuel system is tight enough one shouldn't have to worry about using the electric pump to prime it all the time, in my opinion. While I like electric fuel pumps, I also like less failure...

    New in-tank fuel pump

Can the multifuel injection pump prime and draw from the tank on its own with enough cranking? The M35A3 did away with the electric fuel pump and just relies on the injection pump. It just takes 5-10 minutes of on/off cranking to get the motor primed. I'm a fan of electric pumps myself. One...

    M35A3 CTIS

If you're not going to use the CTIS and have no desire to maintain it, just disconnect the CTIS wheel valve hoses from the tire and put a tank/Schrader valve at the 90 degree fitting off the tire inflation pipe. I removed the valves and counterweights when I put 395s on my truck. You may not...

Fan switch for cab heater: suggestions

Does the fan switch have the resistors in it, or are the resistors on the fan motor? I haven't had mine apart yet so I don't know. If it's just a three-way toggle switch, I think you can get a similar-looking one from a hardware store.

    My newest purchase M35A2

Congratulations with your new purchase! Maybe it was some kind of shop truck. Hard to tell with the back bits missing! What do you plan on doing with it?

    Geared Lug Wrench options?

I borrowed a torque multiplier kit like the OP has from a fellow MV collector to do the wheels on my truck. It's geared 64:1 and rated at some ungodly amount of torque on a 1" drive. I used that to break the clamp ring nuts loose on my A3 rims and borrowed a strong DeWalt 1/2" impact to get...

    Deuce Camo Active Duty

Are there extra headlights on that deuce in the first picture, or is that a camera reflection of some kind?

    LMTV Mirror Brackets

I'm curious - what CAD program are you using to design this part? It's stuff like this that's great for making stuff that otherwise costs and arm and a leg to get NOS!

    Deuce, active service (archive pictures).

    I don't think I've seen a 5-ton with an M26 side-by-side. That's pretty big!

    My first multifuel?

I really appreciate your attention to detail (y) I've seen pictures of trucks that say "DRAIN AIRTANKS DALEY" too.
  18. HDN

    My first multifuel?

Yep! If you don't drain the tanks at the end of a day's driving water sits in there and rusts them out from the inside. I think an air dryer helps with that, but there's a good reason why the manuals and professional truckers still do it! I think the DMV CDL manual for NY even says to do it.

With singles, no less! o_O I think I've seen pictures of an M813 in service with super singles, but never an M54. It also has a different bed on it like the M34.

    Deuce Camo Active Duty

I can't help but think there's a big problem when the convoy's hook has its hood up on the side of the road!
