Floridianson, Two Stroke Madness,
Some M939 trucks have a fuel return valve but not all. Mine never had one but Simp's truck did. Mine never went through any type of rebuild but his did. I'm not sure what determines which trucks have them versus which ones didn't.
19Stroker95,
Look at...
Bringing this back to the top because I had a misfire again. I was taking my 5 ton to Welder1's shop on a fairly routine trip when it decided it wanted to lose air pressure. I made it into the yard with almost 40 pounds of air pressure and the rear drums were hot! No worries, I parked it in...
Welder1 made me a flag bracket today, the truck looks good hoisting Old Glory! My truck quit building air pressure correctly a mile from his shop so it's parked there until the morning. Compressor is pumping so it's likely a blockage of sludge where the copper line meets the frame rail line or...
Since the truck sat for some time, I would change the fuel filter and run it a little more. I noticed you've put 500 miles so that should likely rule out most of the stale fuel that was in the truck. I'd also try your favorite fuel additive to aid in cleaning out the system. I recommend the...
Happy to report that I did nothing other than turn the key and the truck started just fine. It has been sitting since the Veterans Day Parade last weekend. I converted to a spin on fuel filter and installed a new injection pump prior to the Parade. I'm glad the fuel system is air tight again.
A few pictures of General Non-Sense over the past few years. He's a hard worker and plays well with friends like me. My worst moment with him is when I climbed in the cab on crutches enroute to the 2017 GA Rally. My best moment was when I pulled in the driveway 4 days later with no issues but...
I'm good. I think a detuned (170hp) 6.5 pump with .310 plungers is a worthwhile upgrade. The truck runs much stronger than before. I found a good deal on the pump that I installed and it was much cheaper than the prices listed on the Conestoga website link. Mine has a Stanadyne build date of...
My curiosity is peaked with the statement that the noise does not happen if you are in 4Hi or 4Lo. Have you checked to see if your front hubs are unlocked? They should be anytime you are riding on smooth blacktop. If you find they were locked, check your front differential gear oil. Maybe...
Floridianson,
It's Ingles. We discussed it briefly while changing thimbles for lugnuts on my 5 ton while using you're awesome cordless impact. I've always thought it looked so nice and clean on the outside similar to a Publix and you told me how nice it was on the inside. You were trying to...
Solenoid is on the driver's side of the engine just above the injection pump. Push in on the plunger of the solenoid and zip tie it in the retracted position. You can still shut the engine off with the "emergency stop" cable from the driver's seat.
I think some pressure washing will get the color almost back to green as it appears it was a green truck originally. You do great work Mr. Ken so I have no doubt that it will look great when I see it next October!
Participated in a Veterans Day Parade in my hometown. Accessory Drive on the Nifty 250 inexcplicably quit leaking for now. I've got 3 quarts of engine oil all over the driver's side frame rail, front axle and steering gear from the last 700 miles of driving to the my last two events...
Mr. Ken,
I see you pulled the trigger on the truck you were telling me about at the Ga Rally? My first M1089 in the National Guard had that style underlift, this truck appears to be missing the adapters but it could be that I need new glasses. Good Luck on the ride home. As a former Recovery...
We did a test run today at the last minute put together 1st Annual Veterans Day Parade with Sarge, General Non-Sense and Welder1's Deuce. All went well.
Installed a new injection pump calibrated for a 6.5 N/A HMMWV on my truck this week. I swapped the top cover to retain the 12 volt shut off and cold advance solenoid with no issues. I have to make an adapter for the vacuum modulator but I rigged it temporarily to stay at 1/2 throttle setting...
Sarge made the Veterans Day Parade today with zero issues. I was driving my 5 ton and everytime we took off from a stop sign my wife would put about a 1/4 mile between us before I could get up to her speed. It's running very well with a 6.5 pump.
I used an old picture showing my little buddy getting icecream. Here is today's picture. The truck did fine and will be in the 1st Annual Leesburg Veterans Day Parade along with General Non-Sense (M923) and Welder1's Deuce. I'm glad I got it's issues figured out and back together in time.
