I know that weigth distribution as well as balancing the load is key. I am presently going through my HGV license and driver certification course which includes knowing how to calculate where to put your loads as well as how to properly tie it down. Its insane how many straps some loads require...
All the recovery drills we did were with a "cloth" strap between the recovery and the stranded vehicle. Pulled tight and then the recovery vehicle pulled the other one up. I have never tried the "run up" "bungie" style rescues, I just know it requires special straps that can expand and contract...
Thankfully my hearing is fine apart from a very rare occurrence. I am in the national guard and go to the range and other noisy stuff regularly. I hated the cheap foam earplugs and have refused NOT to wear them on more than one occasion just because they didn't fit properly or was too lose...
How large is the S280 for sleeping etc?, if anything can links to specs etc I will just go read those, unless there is already a TM for it?. I did look at a M109, but sadly the M35A2 equivalent doesn't exist as the M109 as far as I can tell as I would rather not want the automatic transmission...
I figured the weight would be a significant issue considering the limitations of the Deuce in that area. The thing is that I like the multifuel capacity of the Deuce compared to some of its bigger brethen that only runs on Diesel due to the insane fuel prices here. But what route could I take if...
Not sure if the topic belongs here or in the other forum. But is it possible to get an ISO bed on a Deuce or is it too short or too light for that?. I am having thoughts about getting my hands on a 20' conex box and decorate it for living and such. The reason I want the ISO bed is so that I can...
Cage armour is a fad. It adds a lot of weight and offers little proven protection. Several of my friends have served overseas in vehicles with both the cage/bar armour on and off and it made no desernable difference in survivability. Most of the Aghanis couldn't hit with their RPG's and the...
I see someone apparently beat me to it, but I am going to post this anyway :)
The differences between smoothbore and rifled cannons aren’t as predominant as it once was as modern technology has made strides to reduce the gap between the 2. Initially certain munitions were restricted to either...
I am not too concerned about the Abrams. I know americans in general hold them very dear and praise them, but from what I can see they aren't exactly up to the mustard anymore compared to the up to date Leo2's and Challanger II's. But time is even slowly running from those as well.
But its...
Looks a lot like the one we are using in denmark. Bar the massive boom lift. It does look a lot like MAN 32.430 (HX 77). But I will try to see if I can find images.
He could have stolen it instead of buying?. The guy that shot up Copenhagen a few months ago had stolen the gun from a national guardsman via home robbery.
Spicergear,
The company I work for still uses these for "off road" road side recovery, and a lot of the crew prefer the older Mog's over the newer offering they have started buying. The one on my pictures was refurbed a couple years ago according to the crew operating it.
Knowing a couple of pilots who has served in active combat engagements I have been told that even if certain airplanes gets hit and loses a significant bit of the lift or stability "most" of the it can be compensated for through the avionics. ie the pilot basically "just" has to hold the plane...
Looks good that someone finally managed to get some Hummers. I would lie if i said i wasn't envious. Just hoping the Danish Army will let their Mowag Eagles go, but from what I heard sadly not since they will have to be returned to the swiss and disassembled.
Wont leaving A open, B closed and C open just went fuel into the air and soaking the engine compartment in Diesel/MF content?. I would think leaving A Closed, but B & C open would make more sense and would make the engine suck air.
