I got this reel from a friend of mine's dad's truck he was selling. Couldn't pass up the deal, cost me a 12 pack of Shiner Bock! I won't be using it much only for 120 volt loads when I travel with the genset. My unit is mainly for the house with a totally separate wiring system. It may be fine...
I need to power a 12volt DC motor for a cord reel that I want to mount on my 803 with trailer. Can I take 12volts from one of the batteries on my unit?
Just from experience I wouldn't use the cap from the auto parts store, they don't last very long. The best bet is the heater hose with bolt and clamps. Ask me how I know!
Zarathustra, thanks for the info, I have a guy that has a lot more knowledge about electronics than I do checking out the regulator. I pasted your info and forwarded it on to him so maybe that will help. I may have to take you up on the fet offer, I'll have to see how it checks out.
I noticed...
Speaking of woman, I was out on a deployment when we had a hurricane power outage at home, I don't know who that other woman on the phone was without power but it wasn't good. My 803 should solve that problem.
Congrats, that was exactly what I did when I picked up my 803, the picks are almost identical. I had a little fuel leaking out of the filler and I had the same bracket bent where someone left the rear leveling stand down and drove off. All my filters and oil had been changed as well. I love my...
I pulled the regulator today and tested the diodes and some resistors they all seemed good. Nothing looks or smells burnt, can anybody suggest anything else I can check on this board? Still don't know where to purchase a new regulator, anybody have any suggestions?
Well I tested the voltage regulator again and this is what I got!
H- voltage 8.00 VDC
J- 85.7 VAC
L- 122.0 VAC
N- 0 to 5,000 ohms
So I would deduct from the TM my voltage regulator is bad, the good news is the potentiometer seems good!
My next question is can the voltage regulator be repaired...
I was just thinking, one of the problems I had with this 803 was it would not shut down. We found out through this forum that the PO had wired the alternator wrong causing it to back feed S-1. Do you think that that could have fried the voltage regulator?
