This fell off my starter - do I need a new starter?

Do you plan on fording streams or rivers? What about mud holes? That will determine how you want to repair starter/solenoid. There are reasons why the starter is built the way it has been designed. And it may have been to the low bidder but it was still made for the U.S. Military to be used...

    1966 10 ton M123-A1C....Dirt71

Dirt71, sometimes the original paint goes along way with me. I like either way, fresh paint or what the service did originally. Sometimes the soul of the truck is the way service members painted or treated it. My truck, CUCV has a paint scheme that matches the base surroundings and blends very...

    1966 10 ton M123-A1C....Dirt71

Very nice truck. The truck may need to have her legs stretched out a bit. 10 mile, 25 mile, 50 miles runs to get her juices flowing and clear out some old buildup in the exhaust. Looks like the truck has led a sheltered life. [thumbzup]

    M1009 Starter Sparks

I agree that something is loose. Starter positive cable or starter itself could be loose but grinding would be present. Also the purple wire could be loose on the solenoid. The solenoid could also be loose. Look at it at night and you can see the arching much better.

My M1009 has died new curve ball thrown Updated

I also run a 2 spin on filter system on my diesels. 1 primary 5 micron with water drain petcock and the secondary 1 micron that does the job well. If the system is new and clean the filters last a real long time. I may change the primary 3 times before the secondary gets replaced.

My M1009 has died new curve ball thrown Updated

Salty dog, since you have just recently owned the truck there is nothing wrong with dropping tank and confirm that supply is clean, water and dirt free. More problems are caused by contaminated fuel that progresses to clog filters, and ruin IP. On my civi 82 Silverado they put drain petcocks on...

M1008 lift kit in France (or Europe)

What I am saying is that off road tires, aggressive rubber, big lugs have very poor concrete, asphalt traction in wet weather, rain, hydroplaning. All terrain, all weather tires increase traction on asphalt and concrete on wet roads. But have better off road traction.

M1008 lift kit in France (or Europe)

What are the laws pertaining to lifted trucks on the roadway? While 4 inches is not allot, using aggresive rubber on pavement gives up traction in wet conditions. And do not last on hard surface roads. All terrain tires are a good investment.

    New to me M37

And what am I missing, you are going to use body and frame for...fire truck. You are giving away the parts described? The M37 looks like it has gray rims, maybe a Navy M37. If it is a Navy wagon it may be best to keep it that way. As good of condition it is, it would be great to keep it Navy...

Banned by Govplanet over Red Rock pickup (and refusal to place shelter in the back of my 1 ton)..

RBA has been an auction house for almost 60 years. Does anyone really think they do not know how to get that last nickle from a buyer. They have years of data and experience, and know how to get the most money on a sale. If that is moving stock, holding for better venue, or working backyard...

    Happy Times From Commifornia!!

If in the course of maintenance it is possible to replace seals and wear items to more compatible uses then it makes sense to upgrade system uses for alternate fuels. After many years of finding better ways to use wmo there still is allot of controversy over why to try and utilize wmo. And...

    Possible fuel issue

If there is a fuel filter under the truck I would suspect that the fuel tank has allot of crud in it which is why the filter is there before clogging the main firewall filter. After reading your symptoms the fuel filter is my first go to for the symptoms you described. As the truck is in...
