Im leaving my front ones in for a good reason: I do disaster relief work and can see needing a tie-off point for a rappel line or something. If it can lift a nearly 20k lbs truck, it can hold my fat-ish butt!
I might take out the rear ones though, Cant really see needing the sling loops and...
An update to this.
Took the door handle to a weld shop in STL. The door handle seems to be a either zinc or magnesium alloy that the first weld shop could not weld. Going to try a second one that does exotic welding for boeing, they think they can do it.
If so, Ill be sure to share how exactly...
The vent is on top of the SECONDARY filter? Is it marked in any way or is it obvious which one it is?
That explains why I pumped the prime for an hour with the water drain open and never got a prime...Whoops.
+\- 5°F of accurate per the manufacturer and a few reviews of similar devices.
Im going to try finding the transmission S\N tomorrow after a nice round of painkillers. Ow.
Ok, found an adapter that will clamp to the transmission cooling line. Looks like the lines are 1 inch, is that correct?
Im very leery of drilling holes/cutting lines unless its the only way. Keep Mr. Murphy the heck away if at all possible.
Well, turdballs. I hurt too much from crossfit this week to play contortionist.
Also, it wasn't overheated, but I'm adding in a exhaust temp and transmission temp gauge pod. Wondered if there was a port already in the tranny I could use.
2 quick questions.
Where the flying fruit bat is the dang transmission serial number? Spent an hour under the truck looking for it.
And
Is there a way to add in a transmission temp probe via a test port or will I have to splice it into one of the lines that go to the radiator?
Thanks!
Yeah, but weld shop is 75/hour and I told them to not go over 2 hours...
Another thing I should have mentioned in the last update! Replaced all indicator bulbs with led bulbs from napa. 1156 bulbs in a 2 pack ran 19 bucks. Bright as all get out and fixed my alternator needle bouncing problem...
Red river parts has the cable, 25 dollars.
@coachgeo: he couldn't do it. It's some goofy alloy, so took it to a welding shop. They are going to try to see if they can do it, going to drill out the rivets, reweld, reassemble, rivet. Will update when I get it back.

Story time!
Drove the behemoth to work yesterday. Started out shifting very rough, but about 15 minutes into the trip, it was almost a smooth as driving my jeep. Only really lurches when coasting and has to downshift, going to try lubing the pedal and cables Monday. Next year, Im going to...
It is a wire handle mod. Im currently about 3 hours from the warehouse, but Ill try to describe what I did.
Took the door handle out of the door, drilled a small hole in the swing arm on the operating side. I took heavy gauge safety wire and made a loop through the drilled hole with plastic...
So drained my '98 M1078 of engine and tranny fluid. Refilled everything, its running smoother now, in fact, the gauge gave me one heck of a scare when slowing down today during the shake down run....started dropping FAST (didnt notice it before.... 40psi is safe @ idle, right?)
Problem is the...
