Cylinder Liner broken pieces in oil pan

Great making those videos. They will help someone jump off the cliff and tear into one of the LDT/LDS engines for the first time!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Truck is still in storage; ground still too wet to park her on the grass. Will she need work when she stretches after the winter rest? She will tell me, I have no doubt about that!!

    Air pump cfm?

7 cfm, give or take. I think the exact spec is 7.25 at 1250 rpm. There is apparently not much difference between the Midland/Bendix units (single/twin cylinder). I can confirm that the single cylinder I run right now is as weak as the twin I had before for running air tools. But, that is not...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

FWIW, I got my axle boots from rockwelloffroad. They are intentionally a tad oversized and that makes mounting a lot more pleasant. Holding up well so far (3 years). Not affiliated, just a satisfied customer: https://www.rockwelloffroad.com/product-page/2-5-ton-heavy-duty-boot-dust-seal-set-of-2

New to M35, getting started, where am I leaking?

If there is that much slop, it might be worth checking the pinion bearings, too. Otherwise the new seal will start to leak in short order. Look at this thread for a few tips: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/rockwell-pinion-bearing-help-please.156915/ If you end up needing bearings...

Issues with my Deuce that need attention

Most people use DOT air line for return lines without problems. Make sure to use the brass inserts in the ends of the line. They look like little trumpets and prevent the compression nut from cutting through the line. You can be...um.. detail oriented and get the correct ferrules. Or you can...

Cylinder Liner broken pieces in oil pan

Good video! What was the noise like? Like a tug boat? chug chug chug?

@martinv Have you decided on a plan?

Custom wheels - Problem, questions, help.

@montaillou Truck looks good with the new shoes. I like the solid wheels as well. They do look like steelies but I gather they are aluminium. These tires will not be challenged with the weight of the truck! 11R24.5 are so common at truck tire shops. Wise choice for future-proofing.

My 1971 Am General m109a3 RV build

They look good! Hereabouts one would risk a ticket if the additional flood lights did not turn off. They definitely need to have their own switch. The light pattern on the headlight looks sharp. Very nice.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

@Elijah95 Thanks for the follow up and the pictures! Clearly, it was having a beer that led you to the breakthrough. Good man. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

Cylinder Liner broken pieces in oil pan

I've rebuilt a multifuel. I am not claiming to be an authority on the matter. You can get a piston and liner and do it in frame, pulling head and oil pan. Before buying any parts I'd open the engine up and see what's what. There is a risk of metal having gone elsewhere and clearly you'd take a...

    Oil thin and drippy

@V8srfun FWIW, I went through that when I did one of my first oil checks one Spring. "That oil looks awfully thin!". Smelled dipstick "could be diesel smell..maybe..." OMG. Fuel in oil..WTF..... Oil sample taken, sent off.... NOTHING wrong. Nada. Purely in the head (the one between the...

    Un-Preserve Multifuel

@Greensick If you do NOT post a video of your engine coughing to life, you MIGHT get into big trouble now! ;-)

    Un-Preserve Multifuel

This is a thread I found: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/reviving-a-multifuel.124585/ I have never revived a crate engine/preserved engine but dealt with unknown takeouts. - using starter or wrench verify that engine turns over. If it doesn't, stop here; there is not going to be a...

    Third day is a charm

I think it's a Delco 21si. Also, modern alternators may not be rated submersible but they sure get mounted in terrible locations where they are regularly soaked...and they still work. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

    Third day is a charm

I put in a Wolverine 24V alternator. Never looked back. Some complained about crappy service from the company. I never had an issue. Some fabricated their own bracket (really, does not look too hard if you have fabbing skills) and used an off the shelf 24V alternator. Power output to weight...
