I got my tray from @aghumvee today, he had the dash brackets as well. I am debating whether I want to do the cup holder cutouts or what else I might add for some storage. I hate to cut holes, but need something for holding cell phone and misc. crap.
Mine is a 192xxx truck, but I assume it recieved some of the 196+ upgrades when it was refreshed in 09. It has the later belt routing that I don't think was original to that truck. I think it might have also had the old style pump with the reservoir on it orginally, but not sure. The part...
Not getting a GEP block was my biggest disappointment when I received my M1123 from auction. I'm still very happy with the condition of the truck and it runs great, but it's got a 98 GM 506 block in a 2009 Melton rebuild. From what I understand, the 98 506 block is not the worst GM year, but...
Well that sounds crappy. It looks like a cast iron housing, I'm surprised it can be deformed from pressing a seal/bearing or maybe I'm still not understanding the issue.
I'll probably just put it off for now since it's more of a seeping (no dripping yet). I'm still inclined to try to replace...
I've got a power steering pump that has a slow leak. I'm pretty sure it's leaking at the shaft. Power steering works fine, so I'd rather not do a new pump if possible. Is there a DIY process to put a new shaft seal in? It's one of the later style pumps on and m1123 where the reservoir is...
Looks like a good deal if the current bidder wins, but there is still a day left in the auction ($50 is not a "buy it now" price). BTW, thanks for the quick shipping on your tray, it is supposed to arrive today.
I'm not sure how to look, but I'm guessing there is probably a bit of yermo sand and not much else. Are there typically "special" surprises in the frame rails?
+1 on this, I really dig the look of the all the silver studs/nuts against the matte black. I guess that's why so many wheel companies have copied the theme with excessive fake bolts on all their wheels.
I promised myself I was going to leave the truck rough around the edges and keep it in...
Nice, that’s a great deal on 2020 tires. Yep, mounting tires w starting fluid is a real fun “hold my beer, watch this” activity. I’ve done it with some tractor tires and it’s quite a show.
I don't think stainless would be a good material given the torque requirements and the lock nuts used. I had to replace a few studs with galling issues when recently assembling my 24 bolt rims, I can't imaging how bad the galling would have been with stainless studs.
The stock studs are...
I've spent some time looking through that, lots of info (so much it's kind of confusing to me). If I was going to do the entire truck, I'd probably go with the behr latex, but I plan to keep the original carc and I just need some touch up spray (mostly for interior stuff). I figured the rapco...
Is Rapco and "quarter ton parts" selling the same paint or is it different? Rapco is a little cheaper, but not enough to matter much if one vendor is better than the other. Both good vendors with same paint?
Thanks. for the spray paint, do you remember what color you ordered? Their options are confusing (I think some labeling mistakes). They list 383 as a carc brown, which I don't think is right. I don't see a 383 green listed under the spary paints. The gallons make sense.
Looks great. What paint did you use? I need to touch up some stuff and hoping to find something easy in a spray can. I've read that the rapco stuff is a decent match for 383 green, but a bit more glossy compared to original carc. Probably close enough for me.
For what it's worth, I tried...
Yes. I bought some extra studs, but no extra nuts. For anything that didn't go on smooth (the ones that galled), I just used a new stud and pulled a good nut from my 12 bolt wheels. Are they supposed to be 1 time use?
