    Electric M37

I’ve had this truck since it came out of government ownership in 1967 and used it as a farm truck for decades. Now it fetches firewood from the woods and makes regular dump runs and other pickup truck duty. I grew tired of fighting with ethanol in my carburetor and the impossibility of sourcing...

    Electric M37

This has been a good opportunity to upgrade the rear springs to those meant for the M43 ambulance, with two more leaves and 500lbs more carrying capacity. I’ve also painted the frame and replaced the shocks, brake lines and transmission (my old one was not rebuildable).

    Electric M37

This is the motor coupled to the transmission. I’m drilling the ½” aluminum plate to bolt up to the M37’s transmission carrier.

    Electric M37

I am in the process of converting my 1953 M37 to a battery electric vehicle. Pictured is the adaptor plate and coupler I’ve had machined locally to couple the electric motor to the transmission. The motor is a Curtis AC35x2 and the drive train is stock.

    M37 Mystery Problem

    M37 no power, good idle

My ‘53 M37 with original engine and 38000 miles on it exhibited similar loss of power under load. Compression was good and no fuel contamination issues. Drove me crazy for over a year. I decided to rebuild the engine since I was restoring the body and had everything off the frame anyway. When I...

    m37 fuel pump problem

Good idea about bypassing the mechanical pump. The oil is supposed to reduce wear on the valve pushers where the force is greatest. I don't have enough miles on my rebuild yet to know if it really matters, but I have read some testimonies by others that indicate it is a good thing to do. Mostly...

    m37 fuel pump problem

I recently rebuilt my M37 engine because the cam lobe for the fuel pump was worn almost 3/16". After rebuild, I learned about modern oils and their lack of zinc and phosphorous content due to catalytic converters in modern vehicles. Now I use Brad Penn oil made specifically for non-overhead cam...
