Completed the design changes to the bed and picked up the last of the materials. Needed to get that done and assembled before I secure the water tank and land my inlets. It's the task for the next couple days.
Changed from a combo square door water inlet to separate individual inlets for...
That would be laying on the ground at the first tree I passed.
;)
Not knocking the design, just saying I have a hard enough time keeping marker lights on the side of the hab. When I do my cab-side ladders, I intend to keep them as low profile as possible for that very reason. DOT has their...
Another way to do a removable is a simple "bolt to tow hook hole" solution. Again, one solution would fit fore/aft.
I'm kinda favoring that for simplicity at the moment...
Removables are really just receiver hitch solutions. I'm tinkering with the concept of being able to flip the winch and pintle hitch fore/aft. The A1R has a pretty beefy rear receiver already. But damn that pintle is HEAVY to lug around. LOL
Still, I'd like to fab up a forward receiver...
My collection of examples for when the day comes. I'll likely make a completely custom bumper of mod an A0 bumper (because the A1R bumper is crap due to all the metal BAE removed and you can bend it with your mind):
The thanks goes to General Disorder.
I used multiple search engines and couldn't find squat on the web on tis topic. I'd even been in some of the RV/CAT forums looking. I'd seen a video of the issue once (don't recall if it was GP or an owner) but never knew what the issue was called nor...
I had this happen the other day but was unable to replicate.
I knew there was a thread but damned if I could find it.
Talked with GeneralDisorder and he found this:
I originally ran cable, but given I only use mine on occasion I tuck a marine battery box in behind the base and strap it down. I keep my remote and all in the battery box. Keep in in the garage until needed,
No doubt.
But we've all seen these overland trucks sell for insane amounts of coin. Especially well done ones.
In any event, someone with the knowledge and skill to do a frame-off build and go thru every system is a lot less likely to be waiting on the side of the road for a tow truck than...
My only complaint is that he didn't go all out and put a decent telescoping steering column (with more then 1/4" tilt) in there with a badass custom steering wheel (horn, cruise, radio controls, mic key, etc).
But he may very well not be done....
Yeah, I disagree here.
This guy took a $10K surplus truck and will end up with a $120-150K one-off customized overland RV that he could flip in a second even in Biden's economy.
Smells like hard work and profit to me.
:)
Keep in mind that if you bugger up the seal, it will cost you twice what the glass costs.
Because (supply demand, junk yard rental space, labor to remove, point of compass scalper pricing, blah, blah, blah)...
