Just because the needle is in the green doesn't mean that both alternators are charging. Check each battery with a volt meter. They should be between 13.8 and 14.8.
Go around and check every hose clamp. You will probably get a couple turns on them. Even the 2 behind the rear head. The colder it gets, the more they leak.
This is a long shot but check to see if the button on the transfer case shifter is not stuck in. Seems to me that someone said that this button locks up a clutch.
So the alternator problem had to do with the way the mount was bolted to the engine. It is supposed to have 4 bolts holding it in place. Someone had moved the mount down so that there were only 2 holes being used. Jeff noticed it earlier but I just never did anything with it as I was worried...
I'm up! But have lots of post recovery blues to deal with. I'll get pics of the alt mount.
Wreckerman. Wish we could have got together. Just never enough time. Hope the Mrs. is OK. BTW, I missed the 59/65 split and started up the east side of Birmingham. Had the front end of the wrecker...
Wooooohhooooo! Made it home. Safe and sound....until the wife sees what her car looks like. Can't thank Jeff enough. Couldn't have done it without him . More to come. Me need sleepy.
Well the easy half of the trip is over. Made it down to Hattiesburg. On the way I discovered where all of the M916's are going...Warsaw Ky.
Unfortunately I can't get my stupid smart phone to transfer the picture.
