The thimble is THIN, and NOT DESIGNED to be used without the nut, without the nut the thimble WILL tend to spread and pull a bit because of the tightening torque. the more times the thimble is used as a nut the worse it gets, EACH re-torque gets more spread and pull. THIS is WHY you DO NOT use...
The HOSE NEW, NOT nos can be gotten from Cummins or any good truck shop, I would NOT use a nos hose because you do not know how old it is, could be from when the first 809 series was introduced, which means you could end up with the same issue or worse, being OLD nos means the hose will NOT be...
After reading what all these "young" guys have to say, I have to say at 70 I still love my 819, drive and work it as much as I can, built BART now adding ac, have a list of projects that should cover at lease a year, in fact my WIFE said "no more projects for 3 years so if you turn wheels up, I...
EVERYBODY, no matter WHAT truck they have SHOULD check there fan bolts, if even ONE is rusted or loose, REPLACE ALL of them, a rusted bolt tends to stretch, throwing the load on the other bolts and causing a unbalance (viberation), a loose bolt does the same thing, and things will not get...
That was a GREAT way to bring the wife on board, star gazing after the romantic dinner does not hurt either, there is NO point in getting something and then hearing the wife bitzh about it all the time, that takes the fun out of owning the get.
I did the same thing on the 819 a few years ago, when warmed up, I can adjust the rpm by a single rpm up or down, I do not set the lock, this way I can just smack the knob to bring the rpm down to idle (about 600, idles a lot smother
I dropped my button in the 36,000 lb m819 from a 27 to a 22, what a difference, more pulling power, where I had to downshift from 5th to 4th, I now stay in fifth, Be REAL careful fueling up, NO MATTER what everybody says" I dropped to x and everything is great", the 250/265 (265 was not a long...
My 1973 m819 looks like crap, BUT very very RELIABLE, like anything it takes routine maintenance, even NEW CARS needs routine maintenance, also it depends on how you treat a vehicle, I can take a brand new Cat D9R up in the rock and get 2000 hr before any major welding is needed, OR I have seen...
I am NOT going to put BART up again, It was more fun to run against KEN right up to the end then the event itself, also the way the voting went BART would take the vote, I do not want that to happen because there are MANY trucks that deserve to win, so PLEASE do not nominate BART.
If the system is new, I would go for dot 3 just because of the cost of dot 5, if for some reason the system has to be opened later, dot 3 is a lot easier to get and cheaper, we did a m62 new system with dot 3 for these reasons.

A bit of paint changes everything.

Signage makes things look right.
From a distance the blend of the paint looks like it should.
BART started out as a every day m1070 TRUCK TRACTOR with two 55,000 lb winches, NOW BART has three 55,000 lb winches with the rear winch usable as...
