Yes, the engine is wet liners. Did you drain the coolant system prior to removing the heads? I'm trying to understand if the coolant on top of the pistons is spillage from the heads when you removed them.
Ok, no oil in the coolant, but coolant in the oil pan.
@simp5782 @Scrounger- any help...
Ugh. Trying to do this job while the pandemic is on, will be a giant PITA.
I can order the dog bones online. I found an affordable striking wrench online, no problems there. I'll probably need to go to a store to find that angle iron and nuts to make the compression plate to pop the torque rod...
I've seen people fashion a rubber trim strip on the inside lip of the hood that channels rain water to the sides of the vehicle where it drains off, harmlessly. There actually is a factory piece of rubber but it's inadequate and is often rotted off and missing altogether on surplus trucks.
A week or two ago, I mentioned having a weepy tire that bled down after 24-48 hours.
I successfully broke it down, cleaned out the groove and replaced the O-ring. No more leak.
I know this seems trivial, but I have no prior experience with 2 piece rims sealed by O-rings. Get it wrong, and you...
I'm in it partially for the military history so, traditional for me.
There are nearly endless military variations of the HMMWV because it is so versatile especially if you include clever and resourceful field modifications. Even staying "traditional" there are enough options to satisfy most...
My truck had bias-ply tires and I think the date code was 2008.
I just shifted to Wrangler MT's. I don't think they were a whole lot newer. If this truck were a daily driver or highway runner, I wouldn't be using these tires. They have good tread, though.
Ok, thanks guys.
I don't think I'm going to torture myself replacing seals "in situ." I like the idea of shipping it off to be rebuilt. I'll cruise the archives and see who's reputable. I'm more concerned about getting the pump back sealed up tight and working correctly than I am about saving...
Last week, I found fluid in the engine valley. We've had a lot of rain. The fluid was clear and odorless but seemed viscous for just water.
I mopped up all the fluid. With the hood raised and doghouse removed, I idled the engine in the driveway and carefully watched the IP. No drips for 15...
I recommend reading through some of the threads in the "Politics" forum. It explains a fair bit of this.
Here's a good start (Page 2):

@TMOMW is actually working with the...
We used the truck to pick up a load of furniture. Soooooo much better than trying to cram stuff into my Subaru.
Next up- cubic yards of mulch and soil for the yard and veg garden.
Yes, I'd read that about the pilot washers. I can tell you from the marks on the wheel, that the Marines weren't too choosy about getting the alignment perfect. I will order some pilot washers for next time now that I know Kascar has them.
I have assembled the wheel and without the valve core...
Had a leaky wheel and suspect the O-ring.
I have a new O-ring and I've broken the wheel down. I cleaned the O-ring groove and the outer wheel half.
The -20 TM says "align the indexing hole." There are two types of 12-bolt wheels, the heavier duty wheel uses a red O-ring and has an extra...
Low range is at the rear of the slot. Are you actually hitting the edge of the slot with the shift lever?
If so, get under the vehicle and adjust the throw of the shift lever to give you a little more throw. Perhaps you're not fully engaging the low-range.
At first, I thought those tire pressure markings reflected the old bias-ply tires and the fender markings were never updated. Then, I dug into the Operator's Manual.
Table 2-2, Page 2-91 in the -10 Operator's Manual lists all the tire pressures for the various models for RADIAL tires.
The tire...
