...and a little more:
I have taken the step of calling the sponsoring delegates' offices and speaking to their staff. When I pointed out some of the accidental consequences of the bill as written, they were very supportive of including amendments to the bill that will make it better. My...
I have just emailed the sponsors of the bill, calmly and politely pointing out some of the negative impacts, as written.
I've CC'd TMOMW on the email so that he can follow what I'm doing and make sure I don't screw it up.
I urge other Marylanders to do the same. Please POLITELY write these...
More information: Based on the SEMA link above, it seems that SEMA may have had a hand in writing this bill, thinking that they were helping FMV owners in Maryland.
The actual Maryland legislative information on the bill is here:
https://legiscan.com/MD/bill/HB1148/2020
The sponsors are [R]...
Ok, spoke on the phone with @TMOMW . As expected, he had nothing to do with this bill and agrees that it is poorly written.
He has requested that I discover the author of the bill and provide all details to him, so that he can get the bill withdrawn or amdended to be more favorable to FMV...
@m1010plowboy , @marchplumber -
Basically, I have no idea where this HB-1148 came from. I have inquired with @TMOMW to see if he has any information.
Yes, I find the bill somewhat restrictive.
My big issue with the bill, is that it would essentially prohibit the use of FMVs for business...
Ah...so much fun and games with axle replacement!
I received an email stating "Your package was damaged and returned to the sender. You can re-order, if you wish."
The shipping time now states "Within 1-2 months." MONTHS? Summit Racing and other vendors also indicate long lead times in...
Plowboy, I'm not sure what you're asking.
You agree or disagree with the proposed bill?
I did not submit this idea or proposal to anyone. I only heard about it today.
I'm getting some conflicting data on troop seats for deuce and 5-ton trucks.
Is the spacing for the side rack/seat slots the same on both trucks? I've read that they're different and I've also read that they're identical, it's just that the 5-tons have an additional short side rack to fill in...
Did all that, also talked to parts counter guys.
In the end, someone on Facebook gave me some good part numbers and I scored a GSP axle on Amazon for $30 more threat the cost of a set of boots. Free shipping.
Searching on NAPA's website fails. The website ends up listing every single CV axle that they sell.
I called my local NAPA and asked them to try to cross-reference the Autozone part number and AM General's obsolete part numbers and they were unable to find a match.
I think the only way NAPA...
Oh, I had my fun with CV boots yesterday.
First, it turns out that I have 7k axles. I ordered 10k boots, so they're too large.
Second, the 7k axle has that damned non-reuseable retaining band to trap the bearing cage instead of a large, reuseable C-clip. I kind of mangled the retaining band...
Did you see Wild_Willy's post above? He says he has the complete kit. I think he means that it's for sale.
A complete kit in the crates is pretty rare. People ususally piece it together as SCSG-G4 stated above.
If you don't buy Wild_Willy's kit, I believe Big Mike's Motorpool has the complete...
Ok, that's helpful. In some photos, the door blanks seem to be missing that little shelf that fills the rest of the void.
My door blanks have the shelf so the seat backs will work for me.
Interesting. The seatbacks don't completely cover the void.
I may end up just fab'ing something up. It seems silly to buy parts of seats when no one will ever sit there.
I'm looking for blanking plates that cover the footwells of the rear seating positions.
I have cruised the entire -24P-1 but I'm not quite seeing what I'm looking for. I'm not even certain they exist. Assuming they do exist, are they technically an ambulance part?
We have no rear seats and no...
Did you call or did you make that determination from their website?
I'm seeing this:
https://www.easternsurplus.net/PartDetails/2593/Arctic-Weather-Kit-Gasoline-Deuce
But surely someone has the hot water heater box and interior ducts for sale, somewhere. Post a "Wanted" ad in the classifieds...
