Removed the rest of armor today, the pintle was a real pain to get out. Also a couple better pic's of the worst spot's on the frame, I will have to replace these corner backet's for sure, they help sopport the idler for the track.
The frame still has plenty of strutural strenght left to it, it's more cosmetic. To me it's not worth tearing down and sandblasting as bad as it is with all the pitting through out. So, yes I will hope to come across a good frame someday. Right now just working with what I have.
Started removing the rear armor today, my intention was to only remove the side armor to have some crack's repaired and bracket's removed that were welded on, but I ended up going a bit further. As some of the picture's show the biggest reason I'm not doing a frame off restoration at this time...
Picked up the right tool for the job today. It just clear's the light's by about an 1" The chainfall belonged to my brother (3ton) it should handle any of it just fine. [thumbzup]
I don't think I will be doing a complete frame off restoration at this time due to the fact of only having less than a year left on my lease. So for now my plan is to go through it and make everything mechanically functional and at a later time when I'm set up in a new shop go for the total...
Removed the other track and brakedrum today. Brake's are a carbon copy of the other side, as to be expected. Next I will disassemble the bogie's and inspect, check all grease fitting's making sure they all move grease and reassemble.
Could'nt stand it, had to go ahead and put it up in the air. Sprayed a coat of the 23070 on it to see which one I was going to like, it or the 33070. I'm going with the 33070 the early WW2 color. Part's will be here end of next week.
Correction Clint, that's a hot dog and burger joint called America Hotdog. But I guess you were half right, it used to be a KFC about 25 year's ago.
I'm also developing a real passion for halftrack's
Just kinda playing around with this thing for right now. Put a quick coat of paint on it. Ordered a list of part's from Gary. (Interesting)
Track's-New

Well I went up and got the M3 today. I don't know when I'll be tearing into it, I've got alot of loose end's to take care of with these 10Ton's. For right now I'll be making a grocery list of part's and minor repair's that need to be done. First is the brake's, they don't work at all!!
Well I had a guy make me an offer on all of my 10 ton stuff, so I'm swicthing gear's a bit. This M3 came across my radar over Labor Day weekend and I think I'm going to grab it. I've wanted a halftrack forever, have'nt finalized the deal but hope to have it at my place next weekend. It need's a...
