Oh that I totally believe, I am just saying I don't think it was a "authorized/standard" configuration. I agree it looks like it should have held the pax bin contents if the pax bin was removed and radios installed there instead - sideways facing to be used by the center seat. The digitization...
Oh wow, I've never seen one of those before. At a glance I can't tell if it was intended for storage or electronics. Very interesting! Is there a NSN on it?
Most of the trucks seem to have a 24+V feeder under the pax carpet. It comes out under the PDP and if you look on the PDP you'll see a...
Ah - that's the regular radio rack mated to a gunners platform. You stand on the thing when you are manning the turret and it folds up to allow crew to get between the seats.
I think you can mount a seat through the platform and then still be able to stand on it. You'd have to look for examples...
The digitization rack is a rack that replaces the NBC storage bin behind the pax seat and goes up to the roof. You can see mine in the pictures, I added it.
The "normal" radio mount replaces the center seat but it doesn't stick out towards the heater. The radios face forwards and it's about the...
Then your best bet is to pay as little as possible for a common 3900. I agree they look cool. The driver-side bracket seems to be very rare but just about anyone with a welder will be able to make you one if you take them the pax-side as a pattern. If you make it out of steel, it can be...
This is one of the fancier Harris 30-500 mhz ones, RF-3183, which also seems to work well enough on CB. It gives around S3 or better across the entire range which is serviceable enough even without a tuner. I am into HAM radio/etc and work a lot of convoys so I wanted something that would cover...
Well, mine have been missing since the start, and that was at least 6,000 miles that I had the truck, including mud, sand, and water crossings. No apparent problem. Doesn't look particularly rusty if I look in there or anything.
You mentioned that in my other thread. That would be great if I needed 19 foot ones, but it's just as easy to make ones that are a custom length for my install. They are very easy to make. Thanks though!
That sir is some excellent country. I've been kicking around the idea of moving out in that direction.
There was a big school of trout looking absolutely delicious hanging out in the river feeding into the lake, where the bridge to all the campsites is. I need to get back there with a rod...
I have 395 Goodyears on a LMTV. I like them very much. Most of my driving is on-road or fire roads, a little mud. Have not had problems, other than I tore the sidewall out of one on a rock, kind of a freak thing. They ride well on road, are okay in the rain, seem to float fairly well in sand...
