    Trailer Idea

Here's one I built. With every two bobbed trucks I build I have a spare bogie, a pair of Deuce axels, two Deuce beds and two M105 frames. I take the M105 frames, cut them and mount them on the bogie, put a Deuce bed on and hook up light and brakes. You need the flip the lunette ring to make...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I just finished putting an injector pump into an LD motor, and while reading the manual I saw where it discussed the centrifugal injection timing advance mechanism. TM 209-2910-226-34, the injector pump rebuild manual, says the LDS pumps use a different "advance" spring than the LD pumps so...

    Deuce Receiver Hitch - Demand??

7"... Attached is the one I use. I'm putting this hitch on Bobbed trucks and on these trucks I've shortened the frame and relocated the rear crossmember (the one with the pintle hook). I drill four mounting holes in the receiver hitch that match up with the four holes in the rear crossmember...

    Gasoline and WMO mix ?

I've been playing around with WMO / Gasoline / Diesel ratios and this is what I think I know.... My truck, a bobbed M35A2, starts on the first crank with straight diesel. With 70% WMO and 30% diesel it starts the same as with straight diesel (in warmer weather, not sure about cool weather yet...

    Xenon Headlight Conversion

    Xenon Headlight Conversion

Here's a thread about H4 reflectors with Xenon bulbs.... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/42950-headlights.html I used E-Code reflectors with 75w 24v Xenon bulbs, much better visibility and less glare for on-comming traffic.

    WMO cenrtifuge questions

Here's what I'm doing... 15 gallons of diesel mixed with 40 gallons of WMO in a 55 gallon barrel. I circulate it for about an hour through a Goldenrod water separator with #40 mesh screen filter in it ( to catch the big chunks) on the suction side of a cheap chinese/harbor freight 12 volt, 240...

    fuel tanks

How about moving the air tanks and doing a "between the frame rails" style tank? The frame width on the deuce is a common one and there should be a number of tanks that would fit. You could even put the tank, or a second one, behind the rear axles.

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

Maybe I missed it, but what other suspension changes you're making? I mean; I assume you're modifying the springs or something to allow more travel, or are you only changing the steering so that the drag link doesn't limit travel? On another note: the "Hydraboost" brake master cylinder has a...

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

I think the engine driven pump IS your most likely single point of failure. It's not because of mechanical failure of the pump, but the engine stoping while in motion. Engine failure, stalling or simply running out of fuel will kill the engine and you're toast! A hydraulic accumulator with a...

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

Have you considered a hydro version of the air-assist system? It would give you much more assist power, have mechanical redundancy and be safe (that means legal too!). You can contact Garrison and they will help you design a system and supply the parts. It will cost more the the air-asssit...

    alternative steering options the deuce

This is the drag link steering valve that Ford used on the '75-'77 4x4 F250. Seems to be used on many other applications too. This drag link is used to control a hydraulic ram mounted on the axle for hydro assist. I'm trying to find a cheap used one to do some measurements, I'm not sure how...

    Split Brakes

A valid part number for the master cylinder is: Bendix 11999 or Raybestos MC39577 This crosses to a NAPA TS108038, TS108002 and UP39577. This is a dual circuit master cylinder with 1 3/4" bore used on Ford B600 buses in 1984-1985, about $150. Does anyone know the bore diameter of the M35A2...

    How To: Hub Flip

Randydirt: You can never go wrong keeping the bearing and race set together. Firefox: I don't know anything about the M211, other than I'd like to have one! What makes this work on the M35 is that the brake drum and the axle shaft have the same bolt pattern. It very possible that the M211 is...

    Engine and trans swap done

Very nice fabrication! Tell me about how you're going to hook up the exhaust?

    How To: Hub Flip

The races, both inner and outer, are the same part number. When I do it; if the races and bearings look good, make that perfect, I just swap the bearings.

    How To: Hub Flip

Could be the "cork thing", could be a worn outer seal, could be a clogged axle vent.... Since it's apart, it is easy to see if the "cork thing" is missing and it is also a great time to replace the seal while you're there. Seals are pretty cheap.

Convincing wife that I need a Deuce

You're going about this the wrong way.... You don't need to talk your wife into letting YOU have Deuce, you need to convince her that SHE needs a Deuce! Attached is a picture of my wife, with a bobbed Deuce, at Wal-Mart during a snow storm. We got 14" in that storm, and that's a whole lot for...
