Yes! We’ve all seen it. I’m just glad to not be a victim yet. I really need to sit on and read my posts on this forum before I post them too. I seem to make a lot of stupid mistakes that I see AFTER I post🫣
Well, if you look at the tag on the machine (in the photos) it's an 803A, but the listing was for an 813A. An 813A is a little 3kw air cooled unit. That's certainly not what was shown in the photos.
Dang! $5500 for a trailered 804B 5KW unit at auction this morning in Oregon. That's $6900 after flees. Certainly no meat left on the bone on that one:rolleyes:
It's kind of interesting how far off of the main subject on this thread that we've become! Does this happen very often? I wonder when Guyfang is going to bring us back to the main topic?
I’m in the NW. Again it’s all about demand. The Olympic Peninsula seems to be where a lot of these units are going. I also sold a fleet of units last year to a guy in Eastern Washington. He and his wife run an off the grid nursery out there some place. He needed the 5kw’s to run a couple of...
I’m getting anywhere from $5000 - $6000 resale on the 5kw’s. A little more with a trailer. It’s always about the demand like you’ve indicated. High winds where I’m at for the past couple of weeks. The power has dropped out twice in this past week giving me the chance to fire up my 803A 10kw...
Even at $2700, that would be about $3400, and I would get to drive 500 miles round trip to go pick it up. Fuel still hasn’t settled down to a good price where I’m at. My hope is to bring home all 3 of these units to make it worth the trip.
I can usually justify the high bids on some of the units with a 1000 or 2 on the clock. I’ve had really good luck with them. But what’s hard to chew on is some of the outrageously high bids on the lower hour units. IMO, the “mid-life” units are just fine. I’m looking at 3 units up for auction...
Got it. I always try to be respectful of others educated opinions 😁 On the topic of seized piston rings, this was mentioned as the cause of piston failure on the DN4M engine that I was working on last year. Nobody ever said what the possible cause of piston ring seizures on these engines is?
It may be another case of piston ring seizure. I had an 804A unit this past with low compression. When I tore this engine down, I had 3 out of 4 pistons with ring seizure, the piston crowns were literally wiping themselves off on the cylinder walls. I was able to get the 3 pistons, rings etc...
