    Inflation and MEP replacement parts

We the consumers are just plain screwed. In the 1970’s when unleaded fuel was introduced, we paid more for it than regular leaded fuel. The lead was always added into the fuel, so why was unleaded fuel more expensive? Diesel fuel is a product which is produced much further down the refinement...

    MEP-804A Overspeed

Hello, I also have in my possession a MEP-804A. When I brought it home from auction about 4 months ago I too had some over-speed issues. The members here in this forum are always so willing to help. My unit had a couple of gauges replaced at some point before I got it. They left the shipping...

    Inflation and MEP replacement parts

Please let excuse me for being a sceptic. Working for the public transit here in Seattle as a 30 year tech, I can share here that hybrid buses are a losing proposition, mainly due to the increased maintenance needed to keep them running. The parts needed to repair them are also much more...

    MEP-803 locking up, help?

We’ll, new pistons will cost about $175 each. $500 for a core may yield you the parts you need. It’s a crap-shoot. Will the block be good? Will the pistons and rods be good? Will the head be good? I sunk almost a grand into a 10kw unit that I paid $2500 for at auction after the taxes and fees...

    MEP-803 locking up, help?

Can you read the numbers on the top of the other pistons? Contact sean@sleeman-hawken.com. He can hook you up with the pistons if you’re going to bore it out. I’m not sure about the head or the rod.

    Inflation and MEP replacement parts

You are so correct. They already have “rolling brown-outs.” The grid will never sustain an all electric society.

    Inflation and MEP replacement parts

I know, right? I’ve always wondered how a gallon of milk could cost less than a gallon of gas.

    Inflation and MEP replacement parts

Oh, and diesel was over $10 a gallon there. But, CA will be the first state to boast “all electric.” Maybe this is just their way of pushing that movement up.

    Inflation and MEP replacement parts

I’m on a 3 week motorcycle ride. Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho and maybe a few others. Only in CA did we see prices like this.

    MEP-803 locking up, help?

That really blows! But, when we buy these things from the auction sites it’s a little bit of a gamble. I’m very impressed with the simplicity and the durability of these machines though. My guess is that you can make a running unit out of this. If you do go that route and buy the parts to get it...

MEp-803A 3-wire connection to house not working and need power asap!

It's said "no news is good news." But in this case? Like you said...hope and pray that he's got it figured out.

Which NOCO Genius Charger for MEP-803A?

That is bad ass! Great job.

MEP 803A smoke after oil change

I've seen other threads about "excessive smoke" at start-up on these machines. My home stand-by 10kw unit smokes much like the units in nextalcupfan's vids. It always clears up in a few minutes. I try to run mine at least every other month under a 100% load for 30 - 45 minutes. I've never had to...

    803 Pre-heat run-away

Guy, what are your thoughts on the glow plug resistance values? We're both seeing .4 to .5 ohms. The TM says they should be 4 to 5 ohms. There's a big difference between 1/2 of an ohm and 5 ohms. Thanks.

    803 Pre-heat run-away

Rich, I’m wondering if that’s a typo in the TM? Their figure for a good heater is 4 to 5 ohms. We’re both seeing .4 to .5 ohms.

    803 Pre-heat run-away

3-6.2. Inspect and Measure. a. Inspect manifold for cracks, corrosion, or other damage. Replace if damaged. b. Inspect attaching hardware for damage. Replace if damaged. c. Inspect heater plugs for damage. d. Set multimeter for ohms and test heater plugs. Normal reading is 4 to 5 ohms. Zero...

    803 Pre-heat run-away

Here’s what I get while using my Fluke. I’m just going to the top of each of the 4 glow plugs and to ground without taking any of the cables off. .3 to .4 ohms. I’ll check the TM and see what it should be and report back. Zero ohms doesn’t sound right though.

    803 Pre-heat run-away

Based on your thread here I checked the two 10kw units that I have here now. Thanks for sharing your experience! So was it S1 that stuck or K18? I see that I’m lucky to have the ceramic S1 on both of these units.

    DN4M pistons

Thank you sir! PM sent. Here’s a photo of the broken spool valve on this pump. Even if the one you want to sell me is all rusted up I’m pretty confident that I can use the spool valve from yours and make this one I have work just fine!

    DN4M pistons

I might add here that I'm still unsure what wiped out these pistons. Afterall, that's what this tread was about. My gut is still leading me to believe that severe carbon build-up from wet-stacking was the culprit here. I know that this is hard to believe, but I really have no other explanation...
