If you own an M35 you need this!

Chuck's trucks may also be able to help you on the 19 spline axle. he called me about them once because they are used in the commando. jeff

If you own an M35 you need this!

OK, I'm a gearically challenged. I finally got it. You guys are now, to me, obviously correct. I remembered I have a loose chevy carrier with axle and spider gears and I went to look at it. The spiders will not turn and you only need ONE lockout hub on the middle rear. The point i was missing...

If you own an M35 you need this!

Be sure to pay attention to the difference when i say axle assembly or axle shaft. each axle assembly has two axle shafts. i only care about what is going on inside the one axle assembly with one of it's axle shafts disconeccted. the carrier in that axle assembly can't tell if you are turning or...

ok, nothing like a little tractor time to get your thoughts together. tom, i'm with you on the torque loading of the suspension system but i'd still want to test it by trying the locking hub on each axle, now back to the spider gears. we are trying to determine if the spider gears are turning...

If you own an M35 you need this!

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 I agree if the axle is removed completely but i think the mass of the axle shaft disconnected at the wheel but still attached to the carrier will apply force to the spiders and make them turn.....maybe. on the second paragraph, i agree the...

If you own an M35 you need this!

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 It seems to me the whole point of the excercise is to relieve wind up between the axles created when the carriers want to spin at different speeds either from differences in tire diameter or differences in distance traveled in turning. To relieve the...

If you own an M35 you need this!

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 I agree that both carriers will be turning at the same speed but what we are concerned with is the differtial speed in the one axle assy with the disconnected axle shaft. Do you agree that one axle shaft will be turning with the tires and one will...

If you own an M35 you need this!

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 I also can't grasp how one axle can have more traction than the other under this suspension system. Both axles are on a see-saw to one point on the frame. How could that put more pressure on one axle over another? Unless applying torque to only one...

If you own an M35 you need this!

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 I think we're talking about one carrier's spider gears, the one with the disconnect. How can tire circumference make a difference when the carrier is no longer connected to the tire? The carrier is going to act as if the connected wheel is breaking...

Help! Bees in my M543A2 Wrecker!

I use brake clean to battle bees and wasps. it works quicker than any hornet spray. you could jam the little red hose in the hole and let it rip. After looking at your pictures, i went and looked at my wrecker. the main truck frame is a "C" channel and the structure of the wrecker body is also a...

So you repaired it? Mine started w/o the use of any starting aids except i had to hold the solinoid and play with the thorttle because it would not idle. It stalled a couple times and the last time it stalled it sounded like something kept spinning/rattling. I went to start it again and realized...

Possibly, I have to put that motor into one of the others. I fired one of the ones up w/ the quiet pack and it ran for a while then sheared the flywheel bolts off. Why, I don't know. When I know it runs I can give up some parts but not till i know what i need....might take a while. jeff
