    My 1-Ton restomod m1009 thread

A year or so back the previous long term owner connected with me in IG. Found out the truck had been all over the west coast and had even been featured on a optima batteries promo video. pretty cool. its come a long way.... literally

    My 1-Ton restomod m1009 thread

Its been over two years since ive updated the build. I did just drive and enjoy it, got busy with the other builds in the fleet, but i do have some updates. Fist thing to address was the wiring harness. Basically it had 37 years of previous owners cutting and splicing.... poorly. I envisioned a...

12 vs 24 bolt.... Baja, mtr, vs Wrangler... Looking for a decent ride

I think I'm going to cross my fingers and see if a new set of 24 bolts with some 98 or 100% dot 2020 bajas fixes it... Need to decide reg 24 vs paired bolts 24

12 vs 24 bolt.... Baja, mtr, vs Wrangler... Looking for a decent ride

I'm kinda at a crossroads with my wheels. I actually have a cucv with 12 bolt hmmwv wheels and baja tires, dot date 2011. I'd like to drive it more, but the rides is killing me. I have tried weights, beads and Hummer balancing rings. Sometimes it will be decent, other speeds shake the truck...

Completely stock H1 wheels, no spacers, but I am running ~75" wms-wms dually axles. No tach yet, but im guessing with the 4 speed 700r4 Im doing somewhere around 2200rpms at 70mph. I'd love to get a all-in-one gauge like you can for a boat/airplane. looking into that now.

Yeah I don't need speed, mine chugs along at 70 just fine. It can get my boat to the local boat ramp about a mile away easy as well. However, The other day I tried to tell it to the nicer boat ramp in the city, and it was just not pleasant. It struggles up bridges and anything over 50. The boat...

    My 1-Ton restomod m1009 thread

I addressed all the leaks this past weekend, as well as replace the smashed in oil pan and re-did the turbo return line. I know its sacrilege, but I really want to put a duramax in there. I love this truck, but i really need the reliability, and power of a newer truck, like a2006 k2500hd. If I...

    Perhaps the dumbest m1009 question?

True, so far everybody else calls it a "bronco"

    Perhaps the dumbest m1009 question?

I've had 2 m1009s over the past 15 years, and I'll admit I don't know the proper way to say the name. Is it a "M ten oh nine" "m thousand and nine" etc? I think i commonly refer to it as a "M one zero zero nine" You?

Why is this unplugged and why does my truck run better without it?

All good points, I will start diagnosing now that i have some ideas. I would assume with the solenoid unplugged, its running the base timing (and the truck runs great). Since it runs bad when plugged in, its either stuck, or being told to advance the fuel when its not suppose to be. Possible...

Why is this unplugged and why does my truck run better without it?

6.2l with banks turbo kit. I assume the IP has turned up a 1/4 turn. Anyway, Trucks been running great for months and a few months ago I cleaned up all the wiring. While doing this, I found the 'cold temp advance switch' in the back right side of the motor was unplugged as well as the a...

    My 1-Ton restomod m1009 thread

Update for december 2020. I few months ago i did all the wheel bearings and discovered the right rear spindle was completely destroyed. Further digging into it the carrier cross pin was worn and the spider gears were lose as well as the drum brakes shot. So I opted to just replace the axle...

Created a problem. rear duramax brakes, stock master

I've always had great luck with Amazon's "used, like new" warehouse items. Before trying a master for a different application, I found a used like new ACDelco one for a m1009 used like new for$11 lol. So I figured I'd try that first, and it showed up, still new in box :) Tried to bench bleed it...

Created a problem. rear duramax brakes, stock master

I found out one of my spindles on my dana 70 axle was fubar, and after much looking I finally gave up on a finding the right 14bolt and found a another dana from a 2004 duramax powered 3500 express. (long story, but i highly recommend to stay away from the dana 70. Anyway, It came with a nice...

Here ya go. You can see where the 'bar' bolted in place by the missing holes. I also have a shackle flip witch slightly complicated the install, but still works. there is a harness on mine that wasn't plugged into anything. There i found the brakes and signals. I had to get the reverse from the...

    My 1-Ton restomod m1009 thread

Couple updates. I installed a Curt 13401 Trailer hitch the other day. I did not have to cut anything to make it fit, however, i did have to remove that 2' long bar that runs along the bottom of the bumper. I was worried it would look a bit odd having a hitch below to pintle, but its not that...

I have a lot of build photos, I look through them, didn't find any of the dash. Sorry It wasn't that hard though, I used a 3M fiberglass kit. Off the top of my head, I remember I scuffed up the pad, used a razor to cut out some of the worst parts around the crack. I think I use some kind of...
