M37 Weapons Brush truck,
I would go back to square one and figure out how the gas is getting into the crankcase first.
If it is not leaking in from the fuel pump diaphragm, I would immediately look at the float height.

I have not installed one on my M37 but your thought process seems to be correct. I would relocate the ground lead to the frame if it was my truck, but that is your choice.

On a side note, there is a local company that is doing the Aquaponic gardening thing on a large scale. I toured the facility about a year ago and was amazed by it. They raise Tilapia and Yellow Perch in the pools under the gourmet...
