I did end up going in the garage and cleaning out the wax that was on the truck side, as soon as I poked it green coolant started flowing out. Is it possible to put the hose in one side of block to flush out the other side? I don't see why not.
Also the backing plate that covers the IP gear...
It was Valentines day, so no work on the M1123 today. I will start with pulling serpentine pully, then next harmonic balancer. If the plate had a little more room I could fix the IP sprocket that has the broken key. I am going to clean all wax I can get out and I have hot spigots in the...
Water pump is off and just like I thought. Front key is sheared on ip drive. Lucky timing chain cog didn't shear otherwise valve damage.
Found a weird wax in water pump housing. Could this be wax from when engine was built?
The Injection pump has a separate gear drive in front of timing chain cog. It will shear the front of the key off if pump freezes. As soon as I get front of engine torn down, I'll post pics. This radiator is kicking my butt. Now I have to remove shroud with 8-11mm bolts under radiator.
This...
Its not rotating because the key broke on the cam gear below. Its made to do that if the injection pump freezes up. I had to do some 6.5 Chevy truck searches to see that this happens when the IP is bad and froze like mine. The crank has a chain that runs the cam, and on the front of the cam...
I have to pull fan and water pump and then once I get front cover off I'll see what happened. If the cam pin sheared I'll have to reset timing with marks on gears like you say. But first I have to pull plate off. Do I have to pull fan off to remove water pump or can I leave attached?
I've looked everywhere and can't see how to turn the crank as the serpentine belt has a adapter that bolts on front of crank. Is it safe to bump the starter to move up bolt access? Or is there a special tool that you can move crank with?
Oh that pic was before I stuffed paper towels in each port. Trust me I vacuumed and used my compressor to blow any dirt by intake ports before removing.
It's weird that the upper and lower lines on ip were froze so bad. The others I could almost do by finger after initially loosening.
