    Fuel System Problems

So I replaced the sock, put everything back together, primed the fuel filter, and fired her up! She idled like a champ....for about 5 minutes, then died. I took the electric pump out of the loop, primed, started, and drove it around for about an hour. No problems. I thought that maybe the rubber...

    K5 front D/S vs M1009 front D/S

NC Cucv, driving on a hard surface with any type of locked rear end is a pain in the neck at best, and possibly dangerous at worst. I have a pickup that's been hot-rodded up some, and I put a mini-spool in, cause I'm cheap. Going around any corner will get you some attention, due to the...

    Fuel System Problems

My wife's civvy CUCV had the same problem. I replaced everything except the injector pump, and added an electric fuel pump. It finally became non-drivable, but ran fine with a 2 gallon portable tank under the hood, hooked directly to the lift pump. After much thought, I drained and dropped the...

What could be damaged with the transfer case in 4WD, but hubs unlocked? Scott

Hello From The Texas Hill Country!

Welcome from Liberty Hill, northwest of Austin. And yes, the hill country and central Texas is very well represented on Steel Soldiers. The Lone Star MVPA (lonestar-mvpa.org) has monthly meetings at Camp Mabry, in Austin, on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. This month is the Christmas party...

6.5 high performance diesel engine swap

If you like the truck and plan to keep it a long time, I say go for it. But I also agree that if you drive it hard enough, you will tear up the new one. Get the new engine, put in a 700R4, and drive it like it was a civvy truck. Scott

VETERANS DAY 2011 - Post HERE!

The school displays (Lone Star MVPA) are always fun. The kids like it, and you get some interesting questions. The actual Veteran's Day parade is Friday, 11-11-11. It is the highlight of our club's year. We (and many other clubs and displays) parade right up Congress Avenue to the state capitol...

    Ran out fuel today!!

Josh, The deuce, having an electric fuel pump in the tank, is very easy to restart after running out of fuel. I assume (and you know how that goes) that it was designed that way. I put 5 gallons of fuel in mine, flipped the switch, and cranked it. It coughed and sputtered once, then started on...

    New V-100

Eating lunch after the car show. Scott:"Not that many people at the show today." Rory:"I thought there were a lot of people!" Scott:"No, just the few who were there all came to see the V-100 and talk to you about it.":-P Scott

    Ran out fuel today!!

The only thing worse than falling victim to a lying fuel gauge is knowing that the gauge lies, doing a visual check, and running out anyway! Luckily, Pawnshop was convoying with his CUCV, so a quick trip to the fuel pump got me back on the road, unscathed except for my pride. Scott

Question about adding an electric fuel pump

Where did you mount it? "Rearrange a few hoses" sounds like close to the original lift pump. Where did you get the pump? Last question, I promise.

Question about adding an electric fuel pump

N_T, what is the brand and part number of the pump you used? Scott

    Thank you

Having spent a (very) little time on some other forums, I believe we do have something special here, thanks to the members, and also a big thanks to the moderators, for keeping it all civil and sane. Scott

Question about adding an electric fuel pump

I forgot to add-Examined the check valve, which appears clean, and moves freely when pressure is applied. Still hard to start in the morning. N-T, the check valve is located in the fuel return line fitting, on the injector pump. Scott

Question about adding an electric fuel pump

I'm seriously considering doing the same thing on the wife's civvy Blazer. Changed lift pump, replaced rubber lines, used aftermarket fuel filter, changed gas cap, still hard to start in the morning. Scott

    I need an alternator.

I googled "lester 7197", having read that in one of the early posts in this thread. This led to a supplier, whom I can't remember, selling Chinese copies of Delco alternators. This is listed for a tractor, or some sort of construction equipment. On the Delco 12 volt civilian models, there are 2...

    I need an alternator.

I installed my alternator, connected the ground and the main wire, and started the truck to test the unit by checking the voltage output with the sensor wire both connected and disconnected. It seemed to be working fine either way, so I assumed that it worked like a 1 wire alternator. Left the...
