What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Sorry about that, I think way faster than I can type. But if you saw how fast I type you would know I actually don't think very fast either.:? Regardless point taken!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Automatics have a "parking pawl" that engages the drive shaft out-put but the engine acts as if it is in neutral. If the transmission is shifted into park while moving it makes a horrible noise as the pawl tries to engage a detent and normally tears things up pretty good if it can engage while...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Rutjes, you posted "I think you guys are on to something. It IS different. One of the previous owners must have swapped the complete axle for one with different drums. Explains the faded blueish tint on the diff, doesn't look like a factory color to me. I was near the truck today so went and...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

tobyS; I too have tested positive for the "cheap gene" or was it I wear "cheap jeans", regardless I hear you.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I will try the pressure washer, your results speak for themselves. I have no actual "rust" issues except for the beginning surface rust and am looking to make it look nice while providing a layer of corrosion protection while I work on other aspects. At some time in the past someone decided the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Privatewrench, your before picture looks just like my bed except it isn't a drop side but the paint condition, white residue from the Ospho and brush strokes are the same, your after photo inspires me that a little more work and it may not be perfect but will look fantastic for a military...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Finally fitted the hard top I purchased about 4-5 years ago on to my Deuce, it will take several more fittings to get it just right, the dents out and it properly sealed to the weather, but I am very happy with and how well it fits. Minor adjustment to the door window glass will make the doors...

HF54 power steering for my M35A2

Good with wood and steel, etc, is there any way to get a copy of your CAD template. That way I am not reinventing the wheel.

    HF54 with ram assist

For what it is worth, I found a site that has a cylinder "calculator" that with the bore, rod diameter and pump PSI will give you the push and pull force in lbs. and Kgs of a given cylinder. Now I need to find the force developed by the steering box @ 1500 PSI so I can find a cylinder that will...

JasonS, do you by any chance know the bore and length of stroke of the 5 ton steering cylinder?

    HF54 with ram assist

but the Marines had to do that because it was part of their core training; to make due with nothing so anything was an improvement over what they had to start with, I am sure McGuyver was a Marine.

    HF54 with ram assist

Thank-you! "Sir gringeltaube", your experience is extremely appreciated. The results of your modifications are most impressive! When I was in the Army many years ago we had a little saying that kind of explains some of the "less than professional" maintenance seen on some of these 40-50 year...

    HF54 with ram assist

Is there a reason the right steering knuckle arm needs to be machined? I may be over simplifying this but could a steering arm for the left side be bolted on the right side and the ball stud removed and a suitable rod end be used to connect it to the 5 ton steering ram?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Must be tire day, just started switching tires and wheels around to get kinda good tires the truck and rolling stock on trailers that really aren't going anywhere for awhile. That is a 22.5 rim and tire on the trailer, I have a total of 13 of them which I plan to have powder coated and mount...

    Special M35 steering gear project

Rustystud, I was going to drive my Deuce up from southern California but ended up having it shipped for several reasons, push come to shove I suppose you could ship to Alaska and meet it there for the expedition part. I know last week when it got real hot I was so grateful I wasn't driving in...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

mann650, if you pick up an M105 trailer you could name it "half" so together you have a "Zeus &a Half", I am glad you have kids to share your toy with, very cool.

    Special M35 steering gear project

Spend a few minutes on the Deuce and the rest of the weekend trimming trees and burning brush for the last burn day until fall. Very glad you are feeling better, getting old isn't for sissies!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Finally I am moving mine from Southern California to Washington. It isn't the adventure I imagined but it is getting done. to move it myself I was going to take a week off and my son was too, but he just changed jobs and I also started working again so time was an issue. i am sure this is a...
