Here's the pinout
I'm not sure exactly how a 24v NATO connect would be hooked up but the unit supposedly can run on 12v/24v/120v/solar
*I'm no electrical engineer so excuse the crude drawing
The OP hitch is an surplus OEM addon kit. Pretty rare find these days but could be fabbed up with the right shop.
You would have a bit of leeway with the design, really (as long as the pintle holes all lined up with the frame) . If I were making one for a truck, I'd go the extra mile and have...
I'll double check tomorrow to be sure but:
The power cord connection is the same for the MRE heater. I made up my own using a set of alligator clips to connect to my truck battery, some 2 strand wire, and one of these. *it only uses two wires if I recall (I'll have to confirm the pin out)...
Someone could sell a ^%&*-ton of rings by designing and printing a ring faceplate that would allow a standard round LED light (amber or red) to be mounted into the OEM brake/turn signal housing pods (front or rear).
Instead of people having to pay $175-$300 PER LIGHT to a surplus scalper, you...
I've always run the Chinese ones as chase strobes on the rear of my pre-runners and sand rails.
I've installed white ones on two of my LMTVs as backup strobes (as well as b/u alarm and a white flood).
Never had one fail, actually.
Not any cheaper that the Grotes posted above, though.
Be sure...
I've seen plenty of missing/loose/sheered flywheel bolts discussed in LMTV thread over the years. Never heard of one that was completely freewheeling but I suppose that could happen?
There's a small inspection port that you can access the bolts. I've never popped one open but I should...
They have a little centrifugal force lock (that is quite simple).
This shows the basic idea. They typically get stuck when debris/foreign matter gum up the ball bearing.
A couple other projects came up and for some totally unexplainable reason, everything started getting more, and more, and more, and more expensive since the 2020 election but I just can't quite put my finer on who exactly is causing it. ;p I did get the last of my water fittings in last week...
So contact your congressman and work to get MVs banned from the highways. Show them your proof here.
Because 99.9% of the MVs on the road cannot do a 75mph speed limit.
Period.
End of discussion from me.
ps: just don't contact MY congressman
:)
You can throw strawman out there all day if you want but the points remain:
1) we disagree
2) most (the VAST majority of) LMTV owners don't have (and will never have) highspeed gears
3) most LMTV owners are going to be on the highway at some point
4) and saying "just stay off the road" isn't...
So by your logic, all LMTVs (beyond the teeny-tiny fraction that have added $8000 worth of "high speed gears" ) are dangerous and should be banned or removed from our highways for the sake of safety? Because they can't do 75mph? I strongly disagree but I'm sure there is no shortage of people...
If I had know it was going to be taken down, I would have saved it. And I'd be happy to share it, but I didn't save it myself.
Best to get a PM from someone with it and let them email you (outside of these channels). SS is just protecting themselves from the DoD, etc.
:(
I was informed that the spreadsheet contained some sort of "classified" TM material or something. Understandably, if it's not legal to post it on the web....this is the web.
That said, I'm sure someone has a copy somewhere...
Agree to disagree. Unless there's a "Minimum Speed Limit" posted.
Doing 100 mph in an LMTV in some attempt to avoid getting rear-ended buy someone else doing 100mph is a) impossible, and b) dangerous af even if you COULD go that fast in an LMTV. Add a trailer into the mix and the danger...
That sucks, but I don't see the applied relevance here. How much faster would you have safely been towing that rig?
I mean if you were doing 70mph and they had slammed into the back of you at over 100mph it would have ended the same.
I doubt the speed limit was 100-105 so....
I get that it's...
