I can't maintain 8mpg with my C7 's pedal mashed to the floor. I get 5mpg all day long in "stand on the throttle" mode.
My A0 was a bit more consistent at 8mpg. Slow, fast, it didn't cane....8mpg.
Of course I haven't done any tuning to see if it can be improved the C7 but some of the...
Yeah, mine it still intact and works (though it will throw a fault and trip the CB at times). But you're correct in that it's not a good heater for an RV build. It's WAY TOO LOUD, it spends 30 seconds heating up, 30 seconds blowing hot, 3 minutes of fan to cool, then the cycle repeats (all for...
Dunno. Guy seemed to know his stuff, so I assume legit. He knows there's a subframe attached to the base of the hab. I don't know what a good price is, but he said he's open to offers. I saw one sell for $4K a few years back (private seller). This one looks pretty clean and he said it has...
This is the model I have. Still not installed yet, but it 's slated for later. Used to be a common auction item for ~$100 but they dried up over the years. Used ones can be found from school busses, etc.

Here's one that I had saved that just jumped out at me. It's from a Fuso build over on Expo Portal in the "other overlander trucks" forum. If I recall, the Fuso even has a forward section of frame that curves up along the trans.
Not exactly what I was thinking of. I have pics of habs being...
Oddly enough, my A1R has this issue when the CTIS controller is plugged in. I suspect the ground on the CTIS controller in my case. All was fine until I removed the controller to paint the heater panel. Unplugged, all functions normally. Plug in the CTIS and a mile or two down the road, the...
Just a thread back from the FB on the LMTV group a couple years back. Someone had expressed interest and a couple people who had dealt with them spoke out. Wasn't anything good said about them (from price, to failures, to service). There's not many dual voltage solutions and when one comes up...
You bring up a good point with the trans, though. The OP is looking to lower his frame/COG/hab. He will have to incorporate a "hump" into the design to allow for the trans (and it's gonna be a BIG hump protruding into the hab). Else he'll have to raise it to the height of the M1079 hab (which...
More like Styre to Steward & Stevenson. ;)
You know that *I* know about the trans protruding (keep in mind I was going the ambo route same as you before I found the M1079). And you and I both know that many builds have accounted for the trans protrusion. If you look at the other image that...
Ah, the two maim frame rails are part of all S&S M-series trucks as far as I know . Are you thinking of the little 3rd frame member that it part of the M1079 hab?
IMO, deleting the secondary chassis will leave you twisting the frame like the 12M18 trucks do...
You *could* but it would take a great deal of modding and fab. There are things bolted to the inside and outside of those frame members. You face a ton of rerouting of wires, air hoses, brackets, braces, etc. Both rails are just C-channel and I suppose you could flip two back-to-back.
I...
