Gimp, the CUCV system is a little different and as you stated, one control box. Mike (Mangus) posted instructions a couple of years ago, I'll see if can dig them out...

Still thinking about the aluminum, the air temp out of the heater is easily 250 °F and the aluminum will get very hot, SCAT (silicon rubber type) type ducting will offer some insulation and won't be that hot, again be careful with any alteration from the original.

Thanks for you effort Jimmy, the 8x8 is actually the Ford xm757 and the EL (erector/launcher) the m790. You can see the crane or davit at the front of the trailer. All Pershing launchers were destroyed as part of an agreement with the USSR between 1985 and 1990 or so. The trucks were not...
Hi all, this crane was used in the seventies, mounted on the Pershing 1A missile trailer, M790. It was self contained and used to assemble (mate) the missile parts. May have been manually hand-pump operated.

You may need to take the carb apart and to make sure the needle valve is moving freely.
I believe the carburetor is the same as on the mep018 set (image below).
The batteries are relocated to the crew compartment and if the "personnel" heater is running for a while, the batteries will be warmed up in time for cranking.
I removed the battery heating coil and case insulation for this reason and if I forget to turn off the coolant loop through the heater...
With some reservations for the exhaust parts...there may be a problem in the area marked off in the image below, I have seen open flame here with a short open ended exhaust, which could melt the aluminum in a hurry. The original pipe is steel with a much higher melting point.
It'll be a few more days, need to do some maintenance on it and still have a couple of jobs around the yard to do. Like Kenny suggests, it would be hard to do without.
Looks like a dedicated fuel tank, which is a good idea, but perhaps not the ideal location. I installed a Jerry can for that purpose...and batteries too for that matter.
The engine likes veggie oil, but if not used up, it leaves a mess in the fuel tank. The pump has been running at reduced capacity for a while and I finally took the tank off for a good clean-up.
There was still about 10 gallons of fuel in the tank, a mix of biodiesel, diesel and veggie oil...
Small note regarding the operation; the "HI" is actually disabled during "START". There is an error in all diagrams that I have seen (including the one shown above).
Q: What is the date shown on the drawings? Too fuzzy to make out.

Using aluminum ducting is a good solution for a substitute IMHO and you did a nice job installing it.
About the battery heater, watch the temp, it doesn't take much to get them too warm, especially in an insulated box and when you get it all...
