Need Help Quick! M1008 Hard and delayed Shifting

Hey Everyone, I'm Short on time here. I'm in AZ to pick up an M1008 with a TH400 Trans. It has been completely redone, and the trans and transfer case just totally rebuilt. I'm having a problem with hard shifts and they are delayed between shifts by 3-4 secs. | I know these trucks may shift...

    MD 1st Time Deuce

Hi jrodjared, maybe some of other more "deuce knowledgeable" guys will jump in here, but a thermostat in most cases, is mostly to keep the engine coolant at a specific range of temps, which gives the occupant heat in the winter. However, it also keeps the engine at a level heated temperature...

    MD 1st Time Deuce

Can't you just remove the thermostat, hook up your hoses and such back up, restart and see if it runs cool? If so, then you know it is the thermostat. If it still runs hot, then move to the next item. Although from the "symptoms" you stated, it most likely is a stuck a thermostat.

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Thanks for the comment Patriot! Yeah I went through the same thought process when I was trying to bid on a truck in sparta. Costs a few more $$'s to ship, but it is safer on a truck that you're not sure about. Thankfully the two trucks that we're going to get are in great condition and should...

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Thanks! Thanks! We've been looking for a while now, and I agree, this is one of the best trucks I have seen in nearly a year's time that I have been searching. Would have liked to have had the M1008 and the deuce back a few months ago, but it's been worth waiting to find the right one's...

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Yep it was fleaBay: Chevrolet : Other Pickups Chevrolet : Other Pickups - eBay (item 260928294034 end time Jan-10-12 20:59:40 PST) We're bringing the deuce back at the same time, so we'll probably be going 50 mph anyway.

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Thanks Guys for Everything!! It was what we needed to know to finish making up our minds and go ahead and try to get the truck we had been thinking about. We just bought a 68' deuce a few days ago, that is in New Mexico, which I have to go get next week. So since I was already going out that...

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Yeah I did know about that. Might be a good idea to keep the parts on hand as a backup, just in case. But the glow plug controller isn't a big deal, like you said. That might be have been what they were talking about. Thanks Guys!

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Hey Guys, Thanks Alot! That makes the CUCV move from being a "good truck" to being a Great Truck! Yes, i hate computers.... especially in vehicles. I had been trying to find info, and was coming up empty, and didn't know for sure either way. I had read a few posts while searching, which stated...

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Hi, I'm new the M1008 trucks, know more about the Deuces..... Anyway, I'm looking at getting an 1986 M1008, and I wanted to ask about the Computers. Searched for a while now, and from what I have read, it does have an ECM for the engine. However, I'm not certain (if stock) that it has a...

Picking Up an M35A2 - Need Leg Room!

I like your seat idea  A 5 gallon bucket, duct tape, and some wire, and we can do about anything, right  Anyway, yeah it would be great if the cab was just made bigger. But I'm not going to modify it to that extent. I did have a thought about cutting and dropping the floor board, but...

Picking Up an M35A2 - Need Leg Room!

Humm... That is an idea, but only if it becomes a must. I'd rather not have to go that far. But thanks for the tip though, might be something I may have to do if I cant get enough room otherwise.

Picking Up an M35A2 - Need Leg Room!

That seems like a easy enough plan, and I do have some army blankets laying around here too. I think I'll pack one in my luggage, and this may just be the ticket for a nice drive back home. I may make some other adjustments too, especially once I get the truck back here at home base. But this...

Picking Up an M35A2 - Need Leg Room!

That sounds like a quick and easy solution to add at least a couple of inches! Hadn't thought about doing that. Thanks for the idea! [thumbzup]

Picking Up an M35A2 - Need Leg Room!

You mean like the seat that is in your avatar?:lol::lol: In all seriousness, I have thought about changing the seat at some point. But I'm taking the train out there, so I couldn't take a seat with me. Not sure about finding one once I get there. I'll keep this in mind though, just in...

Picking Up an M35A2 - Need Leg Room!

Hey All, I'm going to pick up an A2 here in about a week from New Mexico. So I've got about a 1300 mile drive back. I'm 6'4 and about 280, and I was thinking if there was some quick and easy ways of making some leg room to operate the pedals? I have some ideas in mind once I get the truck back...

Deuce Insurance Prices - How much do you pay?

To be honest, in my opinion, Insurance companies are just another "legal" ponzi scheme. As if they can find some loop hole (or make one up) to get out of a claim, They Will! But... unfortunately you have to use them if you want to drive. That is what "goberment lobbyist" did. And if you ever...
